I have always had light and brief and been vegetarian most of that time. Total blessing. Also not exposed as long to hormones.
In addition, cutting the hormone added foods results in several beneficial ways.

Funny you gals are mentioning this, but just yesterday I spoke to a friend about this!! This is the first "time of the month" that I didn't cramp since I was prolly 20 years old! Amazing you are feeling the same way.

I look in the mirror every morning and see a flatter and flatter tummy. I feel like I'm deflating! I feel perkier and younger. My complexion is smooth and rosy.

I tell my friends that it is a nutrient-dense diet/lifestyle rather than low carb. As soon as I say low carb they go, "Oh the old Adkins diet". NOOOOO!!!! I get defensive, hee hee. I don't eat tons o' meat, rather tons o' veggies! I'm lucky to get a small serving of meat per meal b/c I'm too full on veggies! I wake up thinking about veggies!

After Thanksgiving my friends all pulled me aside and asked what I was doing to loose so much in such a short amount of time. I wrote 3 emails yesterday outlining the "diet" for them. I told them Free that you were having another class soon. So far they seem interested.

The very best thing about this whole change is the fact that my daughter's head is out of the "haze". That took a huge weight off my shoulders!

I did stay true during the T-giving break. I kept my carbs under 60. I had a tiny sliver of pumpkin pie and that was it. I don't miss that "old food" one bit. I ate a huge salad before I served myself the rest of the T-giving meal. I skipped the stuffing and ate the turkey and sweet potatoes (which were fixed in a savory way) then they had brussel sprouts which were hardly touched by anyone else, so I filled the rest of my plate with those. YUM! I didn't feel jilted one bit. I told myself if I wanted bread I would have to eat everything else first. You guessed it, I wasn't hungry for bread after I cleaned my plate.

I was in charge of the appetizers, so I brought sausage balls that I made with very little flour, it was mostly sausage and cheese. (I roughly judged that they were about 10 carbs a piece and they measured 1-2 inches wide.) I also brought cubed ham and cheedar cheese. I took along some crackers too, but I didn't open them when I got there. They remained unopened the whole evening. :)

I haven't made any dietary changes recently, but I do know that what I et does affect how I feel during that time. If I'm eating healthy, I feel great--no cramps (most of my life I have been good this way), butif I have had a few days of sweets etc before hand, i am bloated and crampy.

The day before t-giving I took the turkey liver and fried it up in butter and ate it with steamed sprouts from my garden. Didn't help with the cramps but it sure was tasty! :D

Sally...my sentiments about Turkey day exactly! I filled my plate with a big serving of salad, turkey & mashed sweet potatoes with a nice drizzle of gravy. I was stuffed and completely content. I set out a plate of veggies, and a cheese tray. My biggest stray was about 3 slices of my home made french bread with goat cheese.

I seem to have stopped losing and trimming down not sure what is up so I guess I will just kee journaling what I am eating until I can identify where I am off track. I still have a belly that needs some slimming! Please keep posting yours, I really enjoy seeing what you are eating! It helps give me ideas...you know, food for thought :thumbsup

After years of being vegetarian, I noticed my period was tapering off. It was always a huge burden (long and messy). Well, now it is under control and barely there. This has a lot to do with how much iron I have in my blood. I take iron pills rather than eat meat for the most part, but if I take the pills during my period, it will be much heavier and longer, so I have learned to just put up with feeling a bit more tired (from low iron blood levels) for that time. This seems to work well for me.
