I don't ever think of politics at all when contemplating my SS lifestyle. One has absolutely nothing to do with the other in my life. I chose to live SS because it seems the sensible thing to do and it helps me make my money stretch in many ways, both through normal savings and because I spend less on healthcare when I live this way.

Exactly. That's probably why I'm always shocked when a person's political leanings along with SS activities are described as incompatible. Huh?

I agree. Even a communist can be self sufficient. As a matter of fact I bet they are very self sufficient. Healthy living sure does save on health care. Who was that guy that used to eat squirrel turds and advertised for Grape Nuts?

Ewell Gibbons. I think he died of a heart attack.

As is evidenced by this forum and many other web sights and news sources. This country is terribly split. It has been since 2000 when the supreme court wrongfully gave the presidency to Bush. As was later proven Gore got more votes in FL. However Bush had a chance at redemption on 9/11 and he blew it. He went for the money instead. Now Obama is trying to put it back together again. Alas he has the wrong color skin to do the job. Because of that and a very incompetent congress the country is splitting even further. Now the media in all forms is doing it's best to rip this country apart for profit. I hope I die before this country does. I feel very bad for my children because I won't be able to protect them from what greed and intolerance is doing to do to this country.
People have differing opinions. Even if two people agree on something, they still have a differing view of whatever they agree upon based on their experiences in life. The people will never agree on anything other than they want to be happy and healthy. That's the only thing we can all agree on.

We can't say whether Gore would have done a better job. He may have done the same thing as Bush did, or worse. Do you honestly think the Obama election was fair? The numerous reports of voter fraud (that's happened in every election in the modern days) along with the stories of bus loads of illegals being shipped to polling stations don't make you think it's illegitimate?

Anyway, the whole skin color thing is far fetched. You would have to admit that the majority of the country, which is white people, is racist. Do you think that anyone would be saying this whole racist stuff if he was white?

Anyway, it's a coupling of both the congress and the president who backs the congress who are to blame. Along with the various lobby groups who are sitting on all their shoulders. Obama has not tried to veto any of the incompetent Congresses' bills. That's because he supports them.

What you need to do is stand up for what you believe in. That's all anyone can do. That and prepare for what may come.

Perhaps self-sufficiency doesn't have anything to do with political leanings. Maybe it's an economic reality. Or more of a personal philosophy towards one's view of their role in the world.

How does the outcome of an election all those years ago have anything to do with the original topic?
