How do you deal with having so little to do?

Ain't that the truth? I started a small job just now, but I have to keep coming in and checking if there is actual money making work at my job today. So nothing can be long term, at least today.

Sierra Nevada's? Lucky ! I am about 45 minutes from the entrance to Sequoia National Park. Used to go up there all the time, but in recent years not so much.

lol, I am lucky.......... You will know where I am, just a few miles above Springville, got the north fork of the Tule river in the back, creek out front. I came from AZ so the water is heaven, BUT this is a 3rd world country most of the time!

edited to clarify I meant the big city coastal thinking is 3rd world, not this great central valley.

But it's OUR Third World country ! LOL

I am in Visalia, so I do know where you are ! I had wanted to go up to Springville for the apple festival, but that was the weekend I went to the beach with my daughter. Maybe next year ! I also always want to get to the iris days, but never have made it. Such a sloth !

Can only imagine how it would be to have the natural water so close. Such an awesome environment....

I have hopes that if necessary, one could continue to garden with the river. I'm trying a winter garden, so far the earliest I have planted and had them grow was beets planted in January, but need to figure out the latest I can plant, the goal being year round source of veggies or fruits.

This is my first year to try any gardening at all. Here on the valley floor, I am zone 9, so I have brussels sprouts, broccoli, lettuce and late peas in the ground. I am not impressed with their progress so far. I may be too impatient.

I did find some things to do today that were not too strenuous. I am organizing the garage, and am trying to get rid of about 50 pounds of cardboard in FreeCycle and Craig's List. So far, no takers.

Not much money making work coming through today for my "real job", so I am looking for things to do that will keep my mind AND body busy. Right now, I am processing some cranberry orange jam for Christmas gifts. Then I am going to go through my fabric boxes to find Christmas fabric to make hats for the jars. Then I will make a run of thrift stores and look for baskets and pick up my DGD, who will be here from 2 to 6 today.

It is 80 degrees today. Very unusual for us. Since it's 1 PM, it may get up higher. Gave the garden an extra drink.

I feel more like myself now that I have something to do.

I would say enjoy the time of doing nothing. Read a good book. Take a nap. Work on crafts. Spend time with the Lord if you are a believer. My problem is I never take any time off. My husband and I are constantly working. We feel burned out a lot but just don't stop. We never take the time just to enjoy our home and all of our hard work. Someday we will though! ;)

I hope you can !

Boredom is the #1 enemy of people with ADD. And then we also deal with the sense of being overwhelmed by the amont of organization we have to do in order to be busy ! It's a double-edged sword, that's for sure.

Yes, I am a believer, and the time with the Lord is key to surviving my day, every day ! I am reading Colossians right now, and am being reminded of the enormous gift we have been given through Christ. Awesome.

I don't know, but I'd simply LOVE to find out!!!! Hmmmm......maybe we could do one of those reality shows where you do a life swap. You could be busy with my life and I could try to figure out what to do with all my free time while doing your life! :gig

I'll volunteer to do the pilot show!!! :frow

I will tell you are great treatment for your feet and this really works, just give it time. Take a very brisk walk each day for about 30 min. I mean brisk...like you are in a hurry to get somewhere! As you take each step, start heel to toe and come up on your toes to shove off for the next step. Make sure your calf muscles flex well with each step!

At first, of course, this will be a little uncomfortable. But I swear you will see some great results and have sooooooo much less pain in a few short days. And wear some good, designed-for-walking shoes.

If you want to know why this works, let me know. :)
