Archdigger, good for you on your camping stove find. I have used 2 liter soda bottles to store water. It is good that you can rotate them. If the flashy lids you are refering to are the Gamma lids, those are great. So easy to get into, and provide a great seal. That 50 lb bag of flour will produce much more in value than if you were to buy the baked goods. Home baked goods taste better, and make the house smell better anyhow.

Hqueen13, the vinegar bottles are great. That water is great for flushing a toilet. It can take 1 1/2 to 2/12 gallons per flush, depending on the toilet per flush. Extra water for that can be handy.

That's when a 5 gal. bucket with a commode lid attachment comes in real handy. Even better, an outhouse.

Has anyone else been watching the news and getting more worried by the day? I'm worried that I won't be able to pay down our debts before the crash happens, and I think we really really need to do that. I just watched another doomsayer online, saying that things are gonna happen in the next 6 months. I need 3 years to fully pay off everything. If the government handouts dry up, that will probably be the end of my SSI and Veteran's Health Benefits, and DS's Snap card. Worse, if DH's job goes away; I've been trying to figure out how we could keep the house if we don't have money for property taxes.

Britsea, i suppose anything is possible. I just focus on what I'm doing and keep on doing things in a good direction as efficiently as i possibly can, and don't worry about the rest. I can't do anything else, if I did, I'd go off the deep end with anxiety!
