How to wrap meat

First, wrap your meat well in plastic wrap.
Do not skimp. Several layers are needed.

Now, cut a piece of paper and lay it out.

Tuck the left hand corner over and under the meat.

Now pull the right hand corner over the meat.

Tuck the upper portion of the paper under the meat.
You are striving for an "airtight" seal.

Fold the left side over the meat and tuck the upper portion under the meat as well.

Now, tuck and fold the upper portion into a nice and tidy tail.

Now roll your package onto the tail.

Fold the end under, crease flat and tape in place.

Label and freeze!

Classic butcher's wrap, which is easier to open than the drugstore wrap (although that works as well) :)

Never seen the need for the inner layer of plastic wrap though, but I've also never seen white butcher's paper. Ours is brown, and is waxed on the inside--makes a very airtight wrap and we never get any freezer burn (although nothing around here lasts longer than a year in freezer storage!)

Nice pictorial, although I do it diffrently. I have found that way doesn't work well for odd shaped peices of meat. And I don't bother withthe plastic wrap either.
The way we do it, is to put the peice of meat on the butcher paper. Take the top and bottom pieces and hold together above themeat. Start folding down an inch at a time, until you are at the meat. Keep squeezing and folding to get all the air out. Then take the two side pieces and fold tightly on top and tape, label and freeze. :)

That's the drugstore wrap :)

Both work great.

Lol, never knew it had a name. and our butcher paper here is white also. It is also very difficult to find, so when I find it, I stock up. I have 6 packages in storage.

Huh, learn something new every day. Ours looks like brown kraft paper on the outside but shiny waxy on the inside. We had the same brown stuff when I was growing up in BC as well, never seen the white till today.

Usually I have both hands!

That was actually the very last piece of wrap in the house, so it was a bit squirrely.

White is all we have in the US I think.
Its waxed too.

Ours is not waxed It is plastic coated, which really ticks me off. When we could get the brown paper here, it was waxed, but none of our stores carry it anymore.
