Those are beautiful! I planted one last winter/fall and I am amazed at how big it is already. It just took off. Can't wait for something edible to come off it!

Free, I'll trade you artichoke seeds for kefir. If you protect them in the winter the way you do roses, they might just produce for you. I had always wanted to try them, when I lived in NY. Or you could plant them in a big planter and move them inside every fall. The leaves die back in the fall.
I am going to have to start fertilizing mine, maybe then they'll gorw bigger. Ours are soo neglected.
Anything that needs protecting over the winter doesn't make it under my care....I need lower maintenence plants, with all the animals that I have.
