Today we got our first hummingbird of the season at the feeders!

Last year we had 18 hummers with us all summer.

We don't have any feeders out and I don't have many flowers around my house.
But I have had some come up to my back door last year. There is a large green house that has flowers acrossed the road...across the field...so I think that is what draws them in. He gets lots of humming birds in his green house.

Keljonma, they have already emptied over half of my feeder! I've had it out for a couple of weeks, just in case.....yesterday I noticed that it was half gone! Then came a little hummer, taking a dip... :p

I just put mine out this morning and there has been activity at it all morning. Last year we had so many, when we went out the back door they swarmed us, weren't scared of us at all. :)

They are such piggies! It seems like last year we filled the feeder by the kitchen window every other day.

I heard one the other day. I couldn't find it when I looked for it, but the sound they make when they fly is unmistakable.

I have had one that I know of for at least a week. DH saw it flitting around looking for the feeders I always put out. He came inside and told me I better get my feeders up cause I had a hungry scout looking for something to eat. I stopped what I was doing and quickly made up some sugar water and hung out 5 feeders.
I finaly saw the little bugger yesterday afternoon. I don't usually have more than 5 or 6 at the beginning of summer but by the time the babies hatch out I usually end up with 10 or so before they move out for the winter.

We have had 2 for about three weeks, a male and female.

Last year, we had several. But, one was such a bully he tried to keep the others run off.
