I am an Alaskan/Canadian Homesteader

No snow here in Florida, but we're supposed to have another night of low 20's - now that is too darn cold for this neck of the woods! Actually, we did get a dusting of snow last winter - and the lake froze around the edge. Hope we're not going to have another winter like that.

Luckily the water only freezes at night. I would be destroyed if it froze during the day.

Normally, I don't have to change the water 2x a day at this time of year. I normally can just give everybody water in the AM b4 I leave for work. Today, I gave everyone water (except the goats since they have a heated water bucket), went to the farm and gave my chickens and cat water then went to work. I went to the hay auction straight from work. By the time I got back to the farm, the chickens had ice again, and the only reason Cindy's water wasn't frozen solid is because I have a small heater which I had left on.

I think the dang ice caused a crack or hole in one of the frozen waterers...when I brought it in the house to thaw, I later found a big puddle of cold water all over the floor! :he

I am SO sick of the cold!!!!! Where is the global warming?? :rant

Yes and no. One's a Nubian, one's a nigerian dwarf cross, but I've never bred either of them. Though I would like to one day.
