Hi All, I am new. We live in a strawbale house we built ourselves on the southern tip of the Catskill Park, Upstate NY. Our dream is to one day be self-sufficient and off the grid. I run a natural mattress filling store which takes up most of my time but I hope by the time I retire I can set up my property to have it take care of us versus having to take care of it! So far I have been planting lots of perennial veggies, herbs and fruit trees but I feel there is so much more we can be doing. Next week we are making (crazy) insulating window treatments for our passive solar south facing wall of windows. Hope to share the results!

Welcome from VA.

How did you finish off the walls? The usual mud stucco?
