good job-----but so curious

what was the quoted estimate price?
In the $400 range. The part was $175 and labor was $65/hr with a 3 hour estimate.

It took me about 1.5 hours and I am a girl with out the tools a shop would have.
:th

HOLY MOLEY

that is unreal almost--heck not almost--it is unreal! :(

:th You go, girl! :bow

I have a leak in my radiator. I've told both my hubby and son about it. I can't find the leak. Want to come over and help me find it? :D

An old trick is to pour black pepper in your radiator. The pepper will settle in the whole and plog it. Don't laugh. It works.

Great job! Lots of stuff like that is easier than people think. Don't understand why people don't check to see if they can do something, before giving lots of money away.

Denim Deb- Try the pepper, like Damummis said. It really works.

took out the part that I screwed up on.

If that's not enough- The auto parts store will have JB Weld- the High Temperature version. Small holes are not that hard to fix.
The problem is finding the hole! I don't know if it's in the radiator itself, or in one of the hoses. I had put a whole gallon of antifreeze mix in it not too long ago. Recently, I had to add more. Rather than put the whole gallon in, I only added a bit. I can tell when I need to add more because it doesn't get warm in my truck for a loooooong time. And, w/as cold as it's been, that's not a good thing. :/ I can see where there's some antifreeze, just can't find where it's coming from.

Oops !!!!! Don't use the JB Weld in a radiator! :hide It's bad for it. ( I double checked in case I was remembering wrong. )

Try the pepper - just take the cap off and pour in a little. If that doesn't do the trick, then you use " Stop Leak". It's at auto parts places. If neither of them work- get an estimate.

My estimate is for my son to go out there and fix it. I don't think I mentioned this b4, but we paid good money for him to go to school to learn how to do auto repairs. :he But, it's like pulling teeth to get him to look at my truck. Now, if it was a friend's car, he'd be all over it like a tick on a deer.

Great Job Damummis!!
Deb, ditto on the pepper, but if it doesn't plug it, there is some antifreeze that you can buy to find a leak. I can't remember the name of it, but it stains the area where it is leaking. You just have to let it run long enough to build up some pressure, but not long enough to spray all over the motor compartment :p

Project #2
Replace the headliner.

DH got me a newer car for my "End of the year acheivement" award.
A 1995 BMW 318i
The head liner was hanging. I HATE THAT.

Called the dealer. $218.00 Just for the liner. I can beat that.

I have a roll of ultra suade I got in a pick pile on the side of the road. FREE

I have scissors.

I need spray adhesive. $6.00

I have removed the old headliner form. What a pain in the neck that was. Hardest part so far.....
I have to remove all the flocking, then attach new fabric.
