My hubby and I have had the cancer discussion. I am 65, he is 67. If either of us get cancer, our most likely response will be to enjoy the time we have left, and take care of each other. I will not subject myself to poisons which will bring misery, and perhaps only buy a small window of time. As for that matter, I refuse diagnostics for conditions that I'll not choose to treat.

My breast cancer was caught by the tech reading my annual mammogram. Caught at Stage 1B. I had surgery to remove the cancer tumor and radiation therapy on that breast. No chemo. I am cancer free and taking estrogen inhibitors to help prevent it from coming back.

My mom died from breast cancer, my sister had breast cancer. I always assumed I would have breast cancer. Odds were at least one of 5 girls would get it - odds are 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer.

Early detection saved my life.
