My dh and I actually looked into getting one of those after the tornado only with 5 of us we didn't figure it would work. We ended up getting a 27 ft camper instead(it was a little cheaper and had central heat-big plus) We lived in that for a year. We still plan on getting one of those sheds-here they are called derkster(sp?) buildings and are rent to own. $500 down and so much a month depending on which one you want.

If I lived alone I wold totally choose a tiny house, that is... until canning season. I need a huge kitchen to can in.

Our house is pretty small, less than 800 sq ft, and it's poorly laid out which makes it smaller, so I think if I were alone I could definitely go smaller. Plus, think of all that freedom!

One of my friends lived in the back of her Jeep for several years, half of the back was a bed, the other half held all her worldly possessions. I was so jealous that she could go where ever, when ever she wanted.

I guess I was not far off at one point in our marriage after looking over the blog that was posted. Our "get through college" house was 500 sf. That may even be a stretch (on the footage) but it was a good floor plan with a lot of storage nooks, we had two small children at the time who shared the only bedroom and we slept on the pullout couch in the living room. Everyone was always so amazed how well we lived in that house, we LOVED that house, I still miss it to this day, it always felt like home when I walked in the door. What I really loved was the payment @ 160.00 a month, that was the reason we bought it, an apartment the same size rent was 500.00 it just made sense.

I know ! It really is wonderful all the way around. I didn't know until today that there were clubs and lots of people living in these things. It satisfies my need to roam the country, but not sleeping in a tent every night! It's been a lifelong dream.... Someday....

They are super cute! I think that tiny house shaped like a barn with the 4' porch would be a great chicken coop. :hide

:gig

Sorry, but I couldn't live in something that small. The barn shaped one in that blog with the loft is the exact size of what DH and I built for our mini barn - for use as storage! There's not much room inside at all after you put up interior walls.

lol... when I got that big pile of pallets I considered building one of these... I think they're adorable and we need a camp out on our maple property, but I think the boyfriend and I would kill each other if we lived in a house smaller than a baby barn :)

Right now we have between 800-900 square feet and that's just great, although some days it feels small :gig

The smallest place TR and I lived was 300 sq feet. TR got a bad case of claustrophobia... I think mostly because there was only 1 acre outside. :D

When dd and ds were growing up, the 4 of us (plus one English Springer Spaniel) owned a 900 sq ft home which was just perfect size for us - and REALLY EASY to keep clean. And we had a great Lake Erie view from the back deck....
