So I blather on for 90 minutes about permaculture, eco building,
rocket mass heaters, hugelkultur, raising chickens (and other animals)
in a paddock shift system, and lots more.

Podcast is something I don't really understand, but the guy says that
20,000 people will listen to this in one day. Yowza.

Maybe people load this sort of thing in their mp3 players and listen
to it when they commute or something.

Well, if nothing else, I kinda feel like I did an okay job of giving
an overview of a lot of permaculture stuff in 90 minutes. I'm sure
there are lots of people in the permaculture community that could do a
better job and give a more humble/zen face to permaculture. And I
agree that a more humble/zen voice would be better.

I listen to talk radio all day long. Some in the form of podcasts, others live radio shows. I usually listen to the live shows first, but if sports is broadcast instead, or my show is a rerun, I go to podcasts. A listen to a couple hours of podcasts per week.

Ooh, this looks good! Thanks Paul!

We listen to lots of podcasts here. Mostly from the Heritage Radio Network. DH drives his assistants nuts, they are all college kids who want to have bake shop dance party and he listens to boring talking all day! (He does let them control the iPod certain days every week. He's a good boss. His minions like us because we pay them to watch our kids, we help them move and invite them to dinner.)

How podcasts work are like this: You know about YouTube, right? Anyone can make a video, and upload it, and anyone with internet can watch it. Podcasts are just like that, but with radio rather than video. You can stream them over an internet connection- listen to them from a computer, or a smartphone, or a wifi enabled iPod- or (like YouTube videos) you can download them onto your computer/iPod/whatever when you have an internet connection, and then play them back when you are in the car or someplace without wifi. We do this a lot for road trips, download podcasts and audiobooks to the iPod so we have stuff to listen to other than music.
