I just looked this up, 6 hours from me. DANG, I was wanting something to do this weekend, other than cut grass and drop trees. Oh well...nose to the grindstone this weekend for me. Boooooooooo.
You could always come Thursday night, stay over, and leave Saturday morning  Weekend getaway LOL
It's about 75 miles for us. TR teases me that I have never learned to make friends that live close by. Of course, I have, we just don't visit them as often. ;)

Well we had a great visit, albeit too short for me...... Here are a couple pics from this evening's mini-ss reunion at Rogers.

This is E, QA's dh with my dh, TeddyRoosevelt. We have a couple live chickens in the car, and TR is anxious to get them to their new owner. Which is why E and TR are standing by our Saturn, all-purpose farm vehilcle.

OK, quick post about yesterday - which didn't start off OR END the way I would have planned!

8 am our sitter that we had lined up early in the week calls me to say "she's too tired to watch the kids because she didn't go to bed the night before" Which translates into "I'm 22 years old, have never been made to be responsible for anything my entire life, so I stayed up all night playing games on the computer." (this is my cousin )

She actually asked if we could still go do what we wanted to do if there was no one here to watch the kids. :ep

So I have a small meltdown, during which I call my mom and amongst tears totally lose my mind over having had baked for TWO DAYS

so mom said she'd come watch them.

Not just mom came, but her whoooooooooooooole family - step dad and kids.

So our little travelling group included FIL, BeccaOh, her mother, our friend J, E and me. We get everything loaded up and we're off.

Arrived around 2 pm. Checked in BeccaOh's birds at the livestock auction - and then E and I kind of abandoned Becca with the old folks (her mom, my fil, and friend J) who are all in their 70's - because I mean, this was a yearly No Kid Outing. *snicker*

E was on a mission to find a new hat, because his was worn out. We found a vendor selling brand new hats for $3 - so he got 2! Then he suggested we go look for Becca and the rest of our group, because my baked goods were in Becca's car waiting to be checked in at 4. He thought we should stick with Becca until time to check in the baked goodies - I thought we should just walk around, enjoy our couple hours together, and meet Becca at the car. So after about a 30 minute we-walked-so-fast-my-legs-were-protesting he finally said we'll just meet at the car :D

I bought a little Beanie Baby Bear for Baby Girl - yes I know no one collects Beanie Babies anymore, but I have purchased one of these bears for EACH of my children - so Baby Girl needed one, too. This specific bear is yellowish/tan and on her knees, paws folded together in prayer, eyes closed, and her name tag/hang tag whatever they call the tag on the ear reads "Hope the Praying Bear" and her birthday is March 23 - which was my mother in laws birthday and she passed in Jan '96.

Silly, maybe, but that specific beanie was always special to me :) And she was CHEAP. Like less than the cost of 1 of E's hats cheap LOL

So we walked a bit more, splurged on an Italian Sausage for E and a shaved ice for me. I was cringing, but E told me we deserved to splurge a little bit - I thought buying the vendors food there was a BIG splurge!

Met up with Becca, checked in my baked goods and her duck eggs, and then drove back over to the livestock auction side. Looked for the rest of our group, as we wanted be sure that Becca's mom wasn't wearing down, and couldn't find them anywhere. (Later found out they had WALKED all the way across to where they auctioned off the produce, eggs, and baked goods. They watched that auction, while we were down on the other end waiting for the livestock auction. :)

I was pleased with what my baked goods sold for as far as pies and cookies went, but I will NOT make the fudge again. It only sold for $1 a plate, and I had big bricks of fudge on each plate. Forget that! But the check I got wasn't too shabby - and it covered what I bought at the livestock sale :hide

SO MUCH FOR DOWNSIZING!

Ringneck pheasants - with their permit! I got 10 - read that people - 10 FOUR WEEK OLD FEATHERED OUT RINGNECKS FOR 50 CENTS EACH!!! Almost felt like I STOLE them! :D Was debating about getting them, and keljonma whispers to me, "they'd make nice Thanksgiving dinners." and next thing I know I'm waving my card in the air HAHAHAHA The next group of 2 week old ringnecks sold for 35 cents and 25 cents!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't get those - 10 is enough!

While at auction, Pamspride was sitting beside me chatting, and I was bidding against her friend for Black Turkey Poults :D I won them, but later sold them to Pamspride's friend because of a bit of upset I had over buying Bourbon Reds. (we'll blame it all on hormones!)

So, yea, We also got an adult pair of Bourbon Red turkeys - which at first I was upset about because I was pretty sure I had dropped out of the bidding, but at the end they said I had top bid (for $3 more than I was wanting to pay) but after I "cooled off" and thought about it, and E was falling all over himself happy about having a pair of BR's, I realize the guy who said I had top bid was just trying to be helpful because he really knew we wanted the BR's. Could have had a trio, but I didn't want to spend ALL of my money.

When we got them home and out of the crates, oh my they are just beautiful! (even if they are molting badly!) But, think we'll have to name that tom Klingon - because first he was clinging to the cage he was in for the auction, then he didn't want to come out of the crate at home - and he is HUGE!

It was wonderful seeing everyone - and yep, we got pics (as you see from Keljonma's post) but I was a little sad that we didn't get one with emilosevich because Rogers just keeps her soooooo busy! But earlier when we had arrived Becca and I did get to visit with her a little bit - and emi and I shared a laugh over the nimrod that checked my Salmon Fav cockerel in. This girl kept insisting I'd have to pay $1 to sell him (NPIP Testing) and I said No I will not! I'm NPIP at home - took me THREE TIMES to tell her I DON'T HAVE TO PAY A $1 TO SELL MY BIRD. :gig She finally got it, and I told her emilosevich has my number on file in the office (she wrote my number on my paperwork anyway). It was really funny, and I think I confused that poor girl (which apparantly is easy to do!)

Got home, and found things I wasn't happy about, but don't think I'll ever be 100% happy with any sitter in my home - but it's hard to explain and I just need to appreciate that they DID come and watch the kids for us. :)

Sure, Sure. Blame it on me that you bought 10 birds to add to your downsizing project. :p What I *really* said was.... "If nothing else, they'd make some nice Thanksgiving dinners." The acoustics in that place are awful!
