BBH....I got my grains! Didn't look quite as I had expected, of course I've never seen them before!

Thank you!
Whew! Glad they made it. (Really there is just one in there, the other stuff is powdered milk.)
Really? I just thought it was a little glob of them. Weird stuff!

I have my little glass of whole raw milk on the counter re-hydrating!

I got my kefir today! Thank you BBH!!!:ya I have 2% reduced fat organic milk, is that ok to use?
I think it needs to be whole milk with a bit of cream mixed in if ya got it. But for sure I know it needs whole milk. (Organic if you can find it.)

I will look for whole organic milk tomorrow then. The store I went to had organic-but like I said it was 2% reduced fat. I got it. The other kind they had was lactose free. So I still need to add cream? What kind? And is that for every batch?
I also have regular whole milk.

Question.....when I strain off the milk I have one little grain. Is it going to multiply? Stupid question but I do not want to accidentally toss baby grains

It will get bigger and bigger then bits may break off then whole lobes will break off. Sometimes you accidentally miss a baby grain that has broken off, no biggie. It took mine about two weeks to get really big. Then bits and lobes began to break off.

ETA:(I didn't start out with it in semi-dehydrated form though, so it may take longer.)

ok, so little coagulated bits are just the kefir, not baby grains. Thank you!
You know what tapioca feels like? That is about the "feel" of the small grains...maybe a bit firmer. It is chewy if you eat it. The kefir itself is more like runny yogurt.

My kefir has a layer of "kefir-cream" at the top when it is done, I just mix it in and drink it. (After I fish out the grains.) ANyone else get this?
