Somehow I just didn't picture you as the "Hallmark" movie kind of guy! :D (I enjoy them too... especially the Christmas ones! ;) )

I looked it up..it wasn't hallmark, it was INSP channel...another show is playing at 1pm central time on the same channel. Found the listing here http://www.locatetv.com/tv/wind-at-my-back/1555243/schedule#17-Feb-2012
Thanks Tatter! Unfortunately we don't get that channel! Oh well! I think we may have hijacked this thread... :hide

Back on subject... I've really been noticing my age and health issues catching up with me... I rarely wake up anymore without a backache, but I have things to do so I forge on. We are still very much in the process of finishing our house and I have to get my chicken yard expanded so that I can continue to grow my flock. Not finishing is not an option. Chickens and eggs are money in my pocket and I need it. So we work through the pain and fatigue, cuz no one's going to do it for us!! And I know there is more hard work ahead if I am going to get my goats! :thumbsup

I don't have the healthy strong body I had 20 years ago. One really bad foot for sure, that seems to mess up the rest of me, but from where I'm sitting, we better be able to take care of some of our needs (the more the merrier). I still have 3 minor children living with me, plus one of my adult children and MIL. Went to the store yesterday. Milk was 4.99 before 5% tax. And with rising gas prices, it will go up, so I want to decrease my grocery needs as much as possible, so that what I have to buy won't kill me. But I really think I need to find a male goat and get my 2 females serviced, so I have some of my own dairy. The store doesn't care if we older and hurting....they charge what they need/want, plus, how we know we always can count on the stores?

I can agree with you...I have made it a personal mission to not have to rely on the grocery store. I hit a store once ever 6 to 12 months only for toiletries and nothing more. Everything else I can either make (or have made), kill or grow. My veggies I take care of all spring/summer and harvest and can in the fall. Come hunting season, I take turkey, grouse and deer, enough to feed me through the year. Chickens & eggs I get from neighboring Amish farms as payment for my work with them, though some day wish to have my own. Dairy comes from goats and sheep or the neighbors who have a few cows. I truly don't need to travel all that much and those who must rely on grocery stores are in utter urgency to learn how to make do on their own because of so many limiting factors. No one should have to rely on an outside source because one never knows how long that source will be around.
