Is it possible? Neutered but still potent?

If your female actually got pregnant with the encounter with the male kitty.. Then you might want to hurry to the vet to get her fixed..

I dont know about your vets there. But here they wont fix a prego dog or cat if it has been one week after mating. Before one week yes they will fix them.

I would call your vet and ask when their cut off date is for fixing prego cats.

k, another question. How do you know when kittie who lives outside is in heat? I have only ever had one other female cat, and she was indoors until her spay, so I know what her heat was like (and my dad couldn't get her spayed quick enough ) but I have not observed any thing like this with this cat. She is about 6 months old. 7 months at the very most. she is perfectly content to cuddle with the other cats during the day. She is not antsy or whiny.

As for the tom, his ball sac looks the same as my other boys, even a bit more floppy than them. The sac is definitely empty, but I was thinking undescended testicle type senario also. (although hopefully not).

Ok, I will make an appt for her tomorrow.

The problem with waiting too long to spay a pregnant female is that the farther along they are the more they bleed. The uterus develops extra veins and capillaries to support the litter.

As far as man parts... The earlier they are neutered the less the sac is developed.

if she's 6-7 months old, she's probably already been in heat or will be very very soon. the problem with that is, she'll attract every other male cat within a fifty mile radius (may be exaggerated, but you get the idea) - so even if YOUR male kitty is actually fixed, she might still get herself pregnant very soon.

if she's in heat, she'll act much the same as your indoor kitty did when in heat, you'll just have to spend some time with her to know :D but every cat is different... she might not be yeowly, she might just "present" to you or be extra-cuddly. sometimes their nipples swell or get pink, sometimes not. sometimes you'll notice blood, sometimes not. or if you suddenly see ten strange male cats show up on your property, that's a good hint too.

i would personally recommend getting her fixed ASAP. cats can and are fixed while in heat, though some vets aren't comfortable with it (there's a bit of a higher chance of more bleeding) and won't do it, so that's kind of something that would depend on your local vets. cats can also be fixed at any stage of pregnancy, though again, the later you wait, the higher the risk, the less ethical perhaps, and the fewer vets are willing. but if she's not showing, you're probably okay.

i recommend it sooner rather than later though, because you'll avoid most complications if you can get it done asap: no unwanted kittens, no accidental second pregnancy while she's nursing said kittens and/or having to separate her from kittens to get fixed, no unwanted male cats on your property (read: spraying and fighting) etc etc :)

If you did not observe obvious signs of heat I would suggest that at least for official purposes you chalk it up to "she was not in heat, she was just letting him 'play with' her b/c they know each other well", and call the vet and get her spayed RIGHT IMMEDIATELY NOW, as soon as they can schedule ya.

If this wasn't a heat, there'll be one coming up real soon and all it takes is fifteen seconds of visiting tomcat to get a whole new generation (and while I love kitties, the euthanasia rate in shelters is usually over 50% even for kittens simply b/c there are a lot more born than there are homes for)

Ok, she doesn't appear to be in heat, and it does seem the male is neutered, but regardless, I have called the spay/neuter clinic, they will call me back with the day for the appt.

whew, I guess they were just playing, but now I am not taking any chances. No unwanted pregnancies on this farm :p
