I am planning on getting solar to tie into the grid and hopefully in time get enough that FPL pays me.
The man came to give me an estimate yesterday and I found out a valuable tip. My water heater which stays plugged in all the time uses 4600+/- KW a year, 400 KW a month. So is about 1/4 - 1/3 of my electric bill, sometimes even 1/2.
It will cost me $20K for 2000 KW which will bring me close to covering my electric bill. $8000 rebate and $2000 tax credit.
It is $4500 for the solar water heater. Rebate of $500. and I forget the tax credit.
So I turned off my water heater. I'll turn it on when I need it. My parents had theirs on a timer. There was hot water all the time. I'm also going to be making sure that I shut other things off when not in use.
