Hello k15n1,
I live in Utah and found my source on Craigs List. A local certified organic farmer may be your best bet for price. I call my guy and he tells me when he is coming thru on deliveries and I pass the word along to friends.

Well I learned the hard way. Organic grass SEED from a garden center. planted on Pasture apair of geese got in by accident the female died the gander was very sick but pulled thru [either difference in mass or the the fact that the gander woud give choice bits to the female he was trying to seduce] Never again, I bought from the feed store, their stuff was meant to be eaten, Seed is meant to be planted.
From what I read, the rules are different for crops that are not typically eaten by people. I think the seed-coloring laws only apply to wheat, corn, oates, and a few other grains.

Could be, Since I am not an organic nut [I like treated seeds] I have seen seeds with several different colored treatments YUCK green, Mr. YUCK and the YUCK color were part of a Ad effort to cut down the number of children that injusted hazardous household products. It was found to be ineffectual and lost support by industry. They tend to be bright colors, I was not aware that there were any laws.

Interestingly, geese are not the only animal to be poisoned by seed treatments. A recent study found that corn-seed treatment may be part of the cause of colony collapse disorder in honeybees.

From the "news" (can't vouch for the source)

http://earthsky.org/food/corn-insecticide-linked-to-honeybee-die-off

The original article, which may be difficult to read (and you have to pay for it until later this year), but it's straight from the horse's mouth:

http://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/es2035152?prevSearch=honeybee&searchHistoryKey=

From the abstract, I think they measured the amount of the treatment that ended up in the air as a grain drill was running.
