I don't want to be a gloom & doom artist, but I do believe we will wake up one morning to find bread has jumped to $50 bucks a loaf
Exactly. Think Germany before the rise of Hitler.

I think they are in denial.
TONS of denial out there. That scares me more than anything.

Hate to bring religion into it but this was already foretold by Biblical prophesy....can't imagine why folks get surprised by it
Even a heathen like me who doesn't believe in prophesy can just take a quick look at history. How long does the average civilization last? What causes it to collapse? What happens during a collapse?

It's all there for anyone with a library card.

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship."

Very well put WZ. In a manner of speaking, we are the next Roman empire. Look at the correlations between what is happening in America now vs what was happening in Rome shortly before the collapse.

"The real destroyer of the liberties of the people is he who spreads among them bounties, donations and benefits." --Roman historian Plutarch (c.45-125 A.D.)

I'm not surprised in the slightest, Bee. A bit worried, mostly about the family I've found over the years who have not the slightest idea of how to handle themselves without government intervention, grocery stores & TV commercials.
