I'm sorry and don't be embarrassed. The shame is not yours to bear.pioneergirl said:Lets just say my childhood wasn't the best. I have large chunks of time missing from my memory, and have severe memory issues. It seems to get worse as the years go by. I just hope they don't think I'm some type of hypocondriac, or something. I'm not sure what I need to do to request it, if there is some sort of list of symptoms or criteria I have to meet to get a scan? This is kinda embarassing.
I've been doing a ton of reading on ADD lately, and one book clearly explained how brain trauma can cause lasting problems, including memory problems, ability to focus and process things and even personality and anger-control.
So, definitely get scanning if you can. I think the type described in this book was called SPECT scanning.
I think sometimes "working through" all the issues of a traumatic childhood also tie up a lot of focus and energy. I wonder if that could lead to a sense of "fog" and forgetfulness.
My very best wishes and luck to you. Good for you for taking care of yourself!
