Your duck not wanting to cross over the extension cord is too funny. Where do they get their odd notions? I have muscovy ducks and find them really amusing. I find it funny when they hurry anywhere.... mine are big, lumbering white muscovy so seeing them try to hurry their big feet around each other is a little funny in itself.
We got several males in our straight run order and were glad because most of the males were aggressive once they matured. However one is a really nice guy, he is our resident male now. The others were dinner!

I hope you are feeling better, Javamama. I'm an autoimmune girl too...what kind is yours? Hope it is gone in a flash!

Mine did that at the beginning until they got the hang of it too :p

they looked like little x's all day...

I put my meat birds in their new tractor last night and they are truly the dumbest creatures on earth. Kept looking at the grass like ooooooo what's this? Birds are weird.

Savingdogs - it's not official, but I suspect lupus. It fits so well with every problem I have ever had, and I got most other dx ruled out. It started when I was 15 with a skin flare and my doctor said it's autoimmune, explained what was going on, brought in a bunch of his interns to stare at me because he had never seen it manifest like I had it :p And then put me on steroids which cleared it up and I went on my merry way. Never realized that through the next 15 years it was probably the cause of my fatigue and other things. I have just this year put all the pieces together and can at least mentally deal with the flares instead of being frustrated that my body isn't doing what I think it should. My last bad flare was this spring and it was set off by sun exposure. I had to spend most of spring and summer inside because it made me sick. That was when I went to the doctor to get some other things ruled out - thyroid, diabetes, vitamin deficiencies, etc. Then one day the flare was just over and I felt like a normal person again. I hope now that I can recognize them coming I can shorten the duration with rest and nutrition.

OFG, the ducks are fine. I think they have gotten over the exxtension cord now but we moved their house and they got lost last night at bedtime  Good thing I had my trusty laser pointer. It made quick work of herding them. Goofy birds. They SAW us moving their house  And no eggs yet :tongue

So Queen Nibbles is back and moodier than ever, huh? Mine are just pigs. I'm gonna have to watch the white one - she's packing it on!

so you know that you have to go and get ahold of that extension cord and as soon as the fraidy-duck gets near it... shake it and watch the feathers fly! ha!

yeah... that Nibbles is something. also she is getting her winter coat so she's even fluffier than before. every time i see her she is stuffing something in her mouth. i'd better tell the chicks to stand clear lest she get ahold of one of them by mistake!

yikes!

Lupus.....I'm sorry, that isn't a good one. I know there are many forms, may yours be one of the most benign......:hugs

Us autoimmune ladies need to be good to ourselves, get plenty of rest. If not, you will be MADE to. I can't stray too far from good nutrition even one day and my motto is nothing to excess, when I screw up, my body lets me know.

Keeping your spirits up is very important....good thing you have DUCKS!
My goats are also awfully funny. My animals are my antidote for almost everything.

Been there, done that too many times :D I am finally learning that there are times I simply have to stop pushing myself. Finally learning about good nutrition has helped so much too.
I am so lucky to have my husband - he picks up the slack readily and lets me rest when I need to. :love He's so good to me.

I was hoping the goats would provide some laughs but I happened to get the 2 most laid back goats on earth :p They are so content to just "be" it's unreal. But I'm sure their spring kids will be more lively.

I think I"m going to call them Rory and Lorelai after the Gilmore Girls.
They are a little homely IMO, but I can't ask for better starter goats - they have such wonderful personalities.
They are still filling out from kidding last spring and she just dried them off over the last couple weeks.

OK, I'm so late - but had to quote this to post that's just what my girls look like except for Lydia is brown and Luna is black with a white moon patch on her side (hence her name!) And, since they don't seem to be getting much bigger, I'm going to go with my feeling that they're mini - manchas - which if they do get bigger i'll retract that statement.... LOL

I should get pics to Becca so ya'll can see my girls. All three goats follow me around like puppies - and they are spoiled rotten! Every time they see me they think I'm bringing treats!
