Whew....im worn out! Im not even sure why....but I am. I think wrestling with Sonny Boy...trying to get him to take a bottle is why. He sure doesnt want any part of it. He is eating Lamb pellets...and drinking water...and I took him a few handfulls of clover which he gobbled right up. So, Im not going to stress too much over the bottle. I will continue going in his pen, and holding him...and talking to him..and scratching him. I just want him to be gentle like the girls.
Hubby and I mowed today....MOST of the day. With all the rain, this yard has gotten away from us. So, today, we bit the bullet..and mowed wet, muddy "yard". Strung up the peas...they are growing like crazy! Guess its all the old chicken poo I put on there last fall. :idunno Tomorrow morning, I will put straw around the potatos...im so excited to see them growing so well!
Brother in law showed up with his daughter so I took her out to see the sheep. She has never been around animals...other than here so she was pretty excited altho scared. April and Nelly are super friendly, and wanted her to scratch them, but she was scared of thier advances. LOL I was able to finally get her to scratch Nelly's chin. So cute!!
Tomorrow we are going to Ohio to spend time with hubbys Mom for Mothers day. She told me she is going to give me her sewing machine. Hmmmm, wonder if I can learn to sew?? I remember something about it in school...and I can sew crafty things...but never tried "real" clothes. Its something that has always scared me. I guess I can start out with something easy...like curtains. LOL
Tomorrow is also my oldest sons Birthday. 29 years ago tomorrow, I was in labor...on mothers day...haveing my first born. Wierd to think about it...29 years ago! O M G !! IM OLD!! WHEN did THAT happen!????? :th :barnie
Well..its been a long day...so I think I will hit the shower..and hit the sheets!

So, its Mothers day. The first one since I lost my mother...last September. I got up feeling a little bummed...just puttered with a cup of coffee....then headed out to feed the ram lamb his bottle...or TRY to. As you might have read...we got him Friday..and I have had to force 2 ounces in him at a time. Getting worried he would not take to the bottle to well. So, This morning...I warmed up a bottle...ready for " the fight" It was cool out this morning...and I was already in a sour mood...but off I go. Feed the sheep a cup of pellets to keep them busy...climb in the lambs pen...chase him for a few minutes..and settled down with him in my lap. Once I got the bottle in his tightly closed mouth...and the warm sweet milk hit his tongue...he sucked it dry in just a few munutes!! :weee He LIKED IT!! I was sooooooooo happy! What a great mothers day gift from my little ram. I felt much better knowing he had a tummy full of milk. Then he just settled down in my lap..and let me scratch him...and even laid his head on my chest...resting. :love Fed the rest of the crew....chickens, ducks, turkeys...11 pens...and came inside for my shower. DH got up, and we headed out to Ohio..to spend the day with his parents. Had a great time there, a good meal..and finally headed home. I came in, changed into work clothes, and headed out to the barn with another warm bottle...not knowing what to expect from Sonny. He was a little scared at first...but I grabbed him up, sat him in my lap..and he sucked another bottle dry! :ya I think he is getting the idea. I picked him a handfull of sweet clover, and grass..and he ate it from my hand. I think he is starting to finally settle in. NOW if I can only get the girls to accept him. He still has to stay in the inside pen, for fear of the girls hurting him. Hopefully soon, I can put them all out in the pasture together. Hope everyone had a GREAT Mothers day!

Oh, I am so jealous, my little doeling gave me sooo much trouble! Yes, it is so much easier when they can be all together. My little one still gets chases a little, but now they always warn her and give her time to scoot, so I can leave her unattended. I still don't trust that they will all be in the mood to let her in the barn if it rains or after dark, so she goes in her stall then.

It'll be so much more fun when we are producing our own babies, won't it???

Free....I cant waite untill spring next year....I know...slooow down...but just thinking of little lambs being born here...on OUR FARM! :love Sonny didnt take to the bottle as quick as I wanted him too...but, I have to admit..it was easier than I thought it would be. He only gets his pellets after the bottle...and only 1 1/2 cups of pellets each feeding. Seems like alot, but he gobbles them right up! He sure is a little eating machine. The gal I got the sheep from, is coming by this week to check on Nelly. She is really...ummm, "fat"? Im hopeing she is fat...sorta..hopeing she is preggers. If she is preggers...the daddy is a Babydoll sheep! :love Im thinking she is just eating well. She has LOTS of green grass...and pellets. ( I need to cut back on the pellets so they eat more grass.) Its just hard to say no, when they are climbing on me...and begging! :/

Congratz on the bottle! Yay!
We transitioned our kids from bottles to a lambar. Gosh was that a nightmare for one of them.

Just, great pic of your baby!!! :love It all sounds soooo fun! I can't wait to get a sheepers....and the lambs to come. I'm glad your Mother's Day worked out and got your mind off your mom. That first year always seems the toughest for folks...the first Christmas, birthday, anniversary, etc. God sends us comfort in the strangest ways!

Oh, I can't wait to get my lamb! :barnie
