Wish I could get mine down to $48. But, when you live in a house that's all electric, it's not that easy.

Thanks guys! Yea the electric took a lot of work and I know that we won't be able to keep it that low during the really cold winter months because we will have to supplement a little bit with electric heat in the back rooms as the wood burner we have can't heat back there very well when its really cold.

And we just meet the COOLEST people ever!! The couple that had all the nubians we went to look at today were awesome!! They had a neat old log cabin that is the same style as ours. And they had a beautiful cook stove that heated the whole house up and a gorgeous open fire place with a pot hook and bread oven.

The does that will be in milk that they are wanting to sell are due to kid anyday so they're going to call us and let us know when they're ready.

And she gave me a gallon of home made laundry detergent!!! How cool is that!!! :D

Yea I think I talked to my first scammer today. He texted me from craigslist about some chicks that he had. He never could giv me a straight answer on the price of each, said he would let me know when they were hatched.

Hmmmm...ok.

So today he texts me back and tells me, mind you these are run of the mill, buckeyes and barred rocks:

Him: well, normally I can get $10 for the barred rocks. But I'll take $8.

Me: $8 a chick??

Him: yea

Me: Yea sorry but that's a little out of our price range.

Him: 4$

Me: for a straight run or sexed?

Him: both

Me: Which one?

Him: all of them

Hmmm, what do you all think?? ;)

Definitely pass on that one :D Good grief, I hope other people don't fall for that. We got chicks that the feed store couldn't sell for one dollar each.

$4 a chick? A day old? No way. $2 the most. Brs can be sexed at hatch, not so sure about the buckeyes. Still no more than $2 per chick, straight run or sexed. zIf you ar not sure, see how much thehatcheries sell their day olds for. It should be comparable.

I saw an ad on craigslist for $4 chicks....and the pictures of the chicks were taken in front of Tractor Supply chick carry home boxes....

I'd pass on that guy too.
