You mentioned Joni & Friends Wheelchairs . . . Is that the same Joni that was paralyzed from the neck down in a diving accident? She learned to paint with a brush in her mouth. I remember that book from like 7th or 8th grade. I was a great book.

Yes, punkin, the same person.

Joni Eareckson Tada who will be 60 in October, has been a quadriplegic since 1967.

The Wheelchair Outreach takes donated wheelchairs, repairs them and puts them back into working order. The chairs are then donated to people around the world.

Just gorgeous today. 52 this morning and predicted high of 76 - bright sunshine and blue skies! :clap

I went to take some pictures yesterday and found the battery in the digital camera needs replaced. So I am looking online for one. the last time we replaced it, it cost under $10 with shipping. I dont really want to spend the money, but I cant imagine not having the camera. :)

The artesian bread recipe turned out as a good loaf (baked in a loaf pan), only it doesn't really have enough body to cut decent slices. The recipe said to bake at 450 for 25 minutes. I have found that with this oven, that means bake at 325 for 25 minutes.

Last night for dinner we had a German Apple Pancake. I am just about done with the apples I still have here. I have more tomatoes to do something with, also. Unfortunately, Ive used up all the basil I got from the church garden..so maybe I will use some of the basil I dried earlier this year.

I am hoping we get to pick some blueberries soon, as I need to get some in the pantry and freezer. Last year by this time, I had dehydrated, canned and frozen many quarts of blueberries.

Becca, I think PennLine up by us still has berries. I am calling tonight to find out what their week-end hours will be....

ETA: at the end of season, PennLine has free picking - customer appreciation days - so the berries don't go to waste. I got 15 quarts of free berries last autumn.

DH got an email from his sis in NY. She has mailed us a package of books that 'saved her life'. These would be books she read when she finally woke up and realized she couldn't live on credit, I'm guessing. I guess since "we" aren't answering any of her emails or letters, she has decided to just continue on her merry way. DH says we will sell the books. He is just so ticked at this sister right now!

We had Curried Red Lentil Dahl and Apple Cake for dinner today after dh got home from work. Then we had to go do laundry again, so dh has clean scrubs for work. His next day off is Monday.

Tomorrow is the Family Fun Block Party. We aren't sure yet if we are going. We didn't sign up to help this time, and I am not making any food for the event either. The planning just took place at a bad time for us - moving (we thought to Harrison County) - so we didn't volunteer. DH says he might stop by on the way home from work. So I might drive into Jefferson and do some errands, get another load from storage and stop at the Block Party also.

Guess she didn't realize just how sending those books would be helping! :gig
