I admire how involved you are in your church. I have been bugging the family to start going again, it seems that our weekends are so busy....we just have not made it a priority yet. I really need to work on that
Dace, in the almost 15 years we were in Texas we never found one church to belong to, so we alternated between the Methodist, Lutheran, Baptist, Episcopal, and a couple cowboy churches.
When we first moved back to Ohio, we started visiting churches. We would pick one, attend for a while and see if it was a good match for us. We are not denominationalists, so we went to a number of different protestant churches. We thought for a while there that we would join the Seventh Day Adventist Church, but it didn't feel like home. So it took us a couple years to find this one.
I have mentioned this before. We went to this church (Jefferson United Methodist) and were greeted after service by some members of the church - Gladys and Sandy. Sandy was telling dh about the ramp building program and Gladys was telling me about the food ministries. DH has been involved in ramp projects since the 70's and I have been cooking since the 60's. There was no way these women could have known our interests, so I know God told them, and I know God led us to this church. We feel very blessed to be able to do His work.
Grilled cheese for dinner yesterday. Homemade hamburger helper chili mac tonight. Not very inspired meals this week. Tomorrow I might make some BLT sandwiches or some BLT soup to use up some salad greens and tomatoes.
We have our Back in the Box study tomorrow night, so we will be eating dinner as soon as dh gets home from work.
I got an interesting email from Mike. I told him that I was still adjusting to the new budget since the move, and thought the extra gas traveling back and forth to his place was out of the question. He wants to know if he gives me a $2/hr raise and offers to fill my tank once a month will I come back to work for him in October.
Well, I'm not sure, FF. Mike only needed me to work 12 hours in June and 4 or 5 in July, and not at all since.
So I am still praying about this one. It probably seems a no-brainer. But it might be a really bad thing when April rolls around and the 1099 rolls in. I definitely made more than $600 this year, but I don't want to owe anything to Uncle Sam because the budget is sparse. :/
I was reading Bee's journal about people having issues with church. I liked what you wrote, FF. "Come on up here young man!"
I think the theme song for our church is Come As You Are To Worship. Absolutely no dress code.
If you don't want to attend the service at the main church building, you can go to the worship service held at the biker bar or (during summer) the worship service on the lake.
I am being lazy today. I have made the bed, read my email, done dishes, posted on ss, cleaned the kitchen, checked out byc, straightened up the living room and replaced the cover on the chair and a half, sent some pms to QA, read the local online newspaper and did some job searching, put the spider plant out in the sun, walked the dog in the yard, posted on ss, posted some stuff on our family blog, hung up and arranged some chicken pictures and chicken-related stuff in the kitchen and dining room, paid some bills online, put away some dishes, made a grocery list, read Sharon Astyk's blog, worked on my book and journal, and finished the Marilyn Meberg library book Choosing The Amusing. I loved the book and recommend it. Did I mention I posted on ss?
I still haven't showered, done my devotionals, haven't eaten anything, only had one cup of coffee , haven't started my mise for dinner prep, haven't started making plum butter with the plums that are sitting on the counter, I haven't fixed the pc, nor ordered the battery for the digital camera, nor have I done any more unpacking. The small bedroom is an unofficially declared *!disaster!* area now - full of recycles, half full boxes still in "unpacking" mode, and a boxful of stuff marked To Be Sold/Donated.
We have class tonight and that means dinner has to be on time! Yet what am I doing? POSTING ON SS!
