I saw on the news that Ashtabula was not plowing Friday afternoon through Monday morning??? Said they weren't paying snow plow drivers any overtime. I only caught part of it so not sure if it is the city or county. They need to prioritize their budget.
They are trying some of the same nonsense here, which steams me because we renewed the road levy after they stressed that snow plowing would go first if not renewed.

3 1/2? We are only at 2 feet but it's been white-out conditions and adding up fast.

Yeah, slvie, cost cutting is big in Ashtabula County. There is talk that the commissioners want to do away with the CAUV, to get some extra income in.... And we heard at our beek meeting that the OSU Extension Office is talking about doing away with trophies for the 4H kids this year - just ribbons and medallions because of costs. :tongue

In the state of Ohio, if you sell eggs (for eating) from your farm and you are a small farm, you don't have to register the farm. However, to sell eggs off the farm requires a food safety inspector approve your setup.

So when I sold eggs through a local family farm group and worked at the private school, I registered our farm so I could sell eggs off farm property. This was a free registration, and the inspector only took about 30 minutes to inspect the kitchen and refrigerator.

Anyway, today in the mail I got a notice from the Ohio Dept of Ag Food Safety Division. It is time to renew the registration. I returned the application and wrote them a letter advising I wasn't selling eggs off the farm anymore. According to the application I received, starting in January of 2010, the state of Ohio is now charging to register.....$50 per year for a small farm. The larger farms (it goes by sq footage) can be charged up to $10k.

TR has been helping my sister L and her hubby tear up (dismantle) their kitchen for a complete remodel. So I have been staying home doing stuff.

We have ordered hive equipment and are getting bees ordered. TR won't have a thing to do with bees, but he is really pushing me to get them (my dream, not his) :D

The 3:16 Numbers of Hope study (Max Lucado wrote the book and study) is going really well. We just finished chapters 1 & 2 and next Thursday will cover chapters 3 & 4.

Our Sunday Women's Class is doing Respectable Sins. Last week we covered Anxiety, Frustration and Discontentment. This was a really tough session with lots of discussion.

I found a prayer shawl pattern I really liked, so I pulled out some knitting needles (not the right size for the project) and my old yarn that I keep around for trying out patterns. I think this will be a good pattern, so will probably get the right size needles (I have some, but not this size) and some really really nice yarn. The Mary & Martha Circle at church are working on prayer shawls this year.

The 2-year-old seeds I have started are all coming up. So I think I will be okay planting them this year. :fl

TR got notified by his supervisor that he will be back on days starting March 23. That means he will go back to working week-ends. I have some week-end trips to take to visit QA, so we will need to get them done this month.....so I am praying for good weather.

Well, I best get home and start some dinner..

Have a great week-end!!

On the weather report, the forecast is calling for 57 later this week. We may even get some thunderstorms! We still have 2 feet of snow on the ground, but it is slowly melting...night time temps have been in the low 30s.

Titan isn't well today.....mostly diarrhea ... all night long, so I am worried about him. TR has an eye exam today and we are headed there now.

The fella TR is working nights for was in the hospital again with infection in his foot/feet. This is the second time since his surgery in February. So we're not sure that he will be ready to be back to work in two weeks. I can't imagine that being on his feet for 8 hours a night would be possible with these problems he is having. But the new schedule shows TR back on days starting March 23. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Tom, our church custodian is having knee replacement surgery, so the church is looking for someone to fill in for Tom for the 12 weeks he is off work. It is just 36 hours a week and TR is praying if he should sign up to help out.

Hoping to see QA & Becca this week-end!

Have a great day! Enjoy the sunshine if you got it! :D

We've got it here. It's near 60 but breezy. Everyone is in a good mood around here at school (I've got a kiddo out sick so I snuck on the computer during his time slot....) We don't have your snow though, we've just got mud. Hoping this sunshine dries some of it up.

63 today and sunny. The snow is gone in the front of the house (south side) but the back yard is still frozen wasteland. :D The night time temps are still in the mid 30s.

Titan is still having health issues, but seems to be improving .... yogurt and electrolytes ... and an anti-diarrhea medicine. His appetite is definitely smaller than usual. He has spent a bit of time lying in the sun this week and since the weather has been wonderful, we have been outside quite a bit.

Got the first true leaves on the green beans and am thinking of transplanting them to a container.

Planning to take some stuff this weekend to QA ..... should find out tonight if that includes some poultry....... :D
