Been a bit since I really posted. Talked to DD, Kel, the other day. She said that her DB and his DGF spent 4th of July with them in East Texas. They could only stay the day because of their work schedules, and a 4 hour each way drive. But Kel said they had a great time, with bbq, homemade cake, ice cream before the neighbor started fireworks.

Kel is thinking that DGS#1 should come spend some time with his maternal grandparents. It seems he has been a bit depressed since the fire last October, and while he has been going to counseling, Kel thinks he is still in a funk. She also said that since the fire he has lost interest in reading, and she is afraid his reading level is going in the wrong direction. Unfortunately with 12-year old DGD and her health issues and DGS#2 reaching the terrible 2's, Kel doesn't seem to have much time for just one on one with DGS#1. I think he might be feeling a bit left out. Dad is almost never home, as he is x-country trucker, so he isn't much help.

DGS#1's team is in baseball playoffs right now, but she thinks an extended vacation might help him a bit. So perhaps this autumn we will have him come visit for a few months. He will be 9 in December; I am trying to remember what 9 year old boys are like... and what they like to read. :D

And ALSO -

:celebrate

Great news about the family visit! You all have fun. :D

My Cassie dog has not been very enthusiastic either mostly laying about in the fan stream or strewn on the floor in the family room at night when we turn on the air conditioner each evening when hubby gets home from work. It is not especially hot around here, 85, but the humidity is unreal! It has rained some almost everyday and the humidity is near 80%.

I picked blackberries today and felt like I was walking thru water. You sweat but it just sits on your skin. :sick

Good to hear about the visits, and you dgs coming for a visit. That will something special.

My son was really in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books last year. They are a bit on the goofy side and not very educational but reading none the less. Maybe check them out on Amazon see if it's something that would work for you.

Good luck,

g

Thanks, Gina and FF - TR and I were at a book sale yesterday, but I didn't see any there. I will have to keep a look out for those Diary of a Wimpy Kid books.

Jon and Erin showed up after church yesterday. We went to Covered Bridge Pizza, which a local pizza place made from an actual reclaimed covered bridge.

Then we took them to the Linesville Spillway at Pymatuming Lake in PA so they could see the Big Fish Hatchery! I posted about this park (with pictures) last year when QA and E came to visit us.

Today Jon and Erin went to Pittsburgh to visit Erin's grandmother. She had a stroke last year and is still in the rehab center, so they haven't seen her since before the stroke. When they get back to our place, we will be having steak, baked potatoes, salad, fresh green beans for dinner.

TR is off work tomorrow, so hopefully we will have great weather to do something fun. Maybe we will go to The Firehouse Winery in Geneva on the Lake to visit Erin's relatives (they own the winery), and maybe play some putt putt and do some window shopping and people watching.

Have fun!

Checked the hive and added another honey super yesterday. Erin took some great pics, and I hope I will have some to post soon.

Have fun!

Thanks, Becca!

We are having a great time.... except that yesterday Jon got stung by one of the girls while I was working the hive. Thankfully, he had just a small bit of redness and swelling, and nothing serious. He says that it is the first time he has been stung since he was a kid.

TR has tomorrow off, so we are going to do some extreme fun then.

Today we are hitting the library and the mall. Erin is crocheting a baby blanket for one of their friends, who is expecting a little girl next month. Erin needs one more color to complete the project....so I think we will be going to JoAnn Fabrics today.
