So you made an i-cord with the sock yarn? Then knit with the icord?I had forgotten this thread! Here's my makes for this year - a hat and headband.
I started these about a decade ago! I spent waaay too much money on hand-dyed 100% superfine merino sock weight yarn. 5 skeins, about $130 all together.I planned to make a scarf.
When I started knitting, the colors got murky and weird. So I knitted the sock yarn into a chunky yarn. Since it was hand-dyed, this meant knitting lengths from each skeins, mixing them up and splicing it all together. And then I didn't have enough for a scarf.

I decided to use the yarn up this year. I had enough for a hat and a headband. I used a bubble stitch on the hat forcwarmth, and a 1x1 rib on the headband so its twice as thick. They are heavy and very warm.View attachment 25272

Well I may actually be able to crochet again. I picked up a ring guide for yarn since I cannot stand anything running over my pinky finger now. That will take getting used to because I've always used the pinky for tension adjustment.

I’ve seen people holding their yarn and hooks in different ways and thought I might like to try that. Because my right hand gets awful numb when I crochet. But I’m so used to the way I’ve always done it that trying a new way feels too awkward so I don’t keep it up very long. I’m sure I should just practice the new way until I develop the needed muscle memory. Then when my hand gets numb I would be able to switch back and forth between techniques.

I too have that issue.... shifting to a new way of doing things is awkward and slow!! Also quite frustrating!
I knit, and at times have tried to learn alternative ways to help my arthritic hands... but get frustrated with the slowness of learning a new technique.
I now simply do it mostly the way I always have.... but am very careful to relax my hands, do NOT use a firm grip... gentle with the muscles!
