Did I ever mention I love my Diva cup?

OK, soo... my period was coming up due - ish. I've never been one for regular cycles. I was feeling really hormonal. I normally have zero PMS (unless you count weight loss). Sore, heavy breasts. I could feel my mammary glands "enlarged." It is fine as long as I'm wearing a super-supportive demi-cup bra. I was feeling not quite right. Even took a pregnancy test knowing it was totally irrational and to early to show anything if there was anything to be shown.

I had a bit of spotting, so I used my Diva cup. I had 3 days of spotting 1/4 oz in 24 hours (same amount of fluid as non-period), but pinkish/brownish. And then ... nothing.

Am I having the wierdest period ever? or pregnant?

I'm stopping my prescription meds as of tomorrow (I already took my doses tonight).

Everything I've read online says I need to wait 3 - 7 days for a test to be positive if it should be positive.

:barnie

:th

ETA: also have notice appetite up, some normal foods have made me feel queasy in the last week. Definitely bloated.

I say call your doctor, and see if they'll do a blood test. That way, you'll know right away, and won't have to miss more meds than necessary. Also, even if doc won't do a blood test, they CAN go ahead and get you on pregnancy-approved meds, just in case.

:hugs Hope you find out something soon!

It's possible but it's also possible that you're just feeling yucky for other reasons which are, as a side effect, delaying your period. I agree with having your doctor do a test. If you suspect you're pregnant, you need to know as soon as possible to make the best choices about meds, nutrition, etc.

Well, I have had weird "monthlies" like that off and on over the past year and a half. Usually a normal one will follow, as though I had spotting then a late period. Fluid is often discolored in that case.

In my case it is either stress, or possibly age. Wouldn't be unheard-of for me to have peri-menopausal symptoms at all, and my mother had an early menopause. Hmmmm .... Not sure I am ready to think that way. Probably no more children for me though.

But I'd agree to call your doc for a blood test. If you are expecting, you want to know that so you can take good care of yourself. And if you need compatible meds. And if you are not expecting, well ... Just the stress of you worrying you might be can mess up your cycles enough to keep you in the dark for another month or more. :(

I'd go for the blood test, if it were me in your situation. Hope it all turns out the way you want. :)

I know, believe me I know :p, how hard it is waiting that week or two before you can reliably do a "pee on the stick" type test. And certainly what you describe is consistant with being pregnant.

But it is also consistant with NOT being pregnant and just having an odd cycle. Some people do this more than others, and if you are one whose body doesn't do it very often at all it can seem really really funky, but sometimes either you don't actually ovulate when expected and the body has to "try again" later, sometimes several times, or sometimes the postovulatory follicle hangs in there longer than expected and you get a delayed period sometimes with spotting. In either case, or in various other cases too, you can get pregnancy/PMS type symptoms just because of the out of whack hormonal surges.

So really statistically it is quite possible that you are *not* pg.

But, if you need to have a doctor do a blood test for peace of mind then why not; or otherwise, you certainly have my full sympathy for "the wait" til you can do one yourself.

Hang in there, good luck,

Pat

I'm gonna freaking drive myself crazy.

More appetite - is a side effect of a medication I'm on, although I hadn't experienced it before.

Much more sleeping - it could be the beginning of depression.

Bloating - heck, I'm a girl. It happens

Breast heavy, tender - could be PMS

Spotting - a freakishly irregular cycle

Anyhow, I have to stop taking my prescription medication because they are so terrible for pregnancy. I might go a little crazy off the deep end. Don't mind me...

I bought a bunch of pregnancy tests. Of course couldn't restrain myself and took one. Of course was negative.

Timeline:

First date of last period (day 1 of cycle) - Dec 7
Day 22 - started feeling "hormonal"
Day 23 - obviously hormonal but not my normal "PMS"
Days 26, 27, 28 - light spotting
Day 30 - beginning to freak out, negative pregnancy test

Does that seem like an appropriate timeline? Should I just test every 2 days until 1) positive test 2) period comes or 3) I assume it is negative and chill out

For you, pick #3. You don't need to shoulder any more than you already deal with. You might consider that you might be over analyzing everything. Just saying...

Thanks. My mom came over and took my son (yay!). I have been ridiculously tired lately. I got to talk to her about it. I think it was eating me up because I didn't have anyone to talk to. She had a miscarriage and a "chemical pregnancy", so she understands with no drama.

Good luck and keep us posted. I remember going through the same thing and the waiting was excruciating. I did the same thing with the pregnancy test stockpiling. Try to keep your mind busy with other things if possible.
