Diagnostics are a venigram with dye contrast and treatment is heparin or Lovenox injections followed by Coumadin therapy. I understand not having insurance....if you are self-actualized in your life and feel you have no regrets and are ready to die, I say, go for it. Could be muscle, could be tendon, could be clot. Who knows? Doesn't really matter if you are resigned to deal with the consequences. Been there, done that myself.

For now I'd take some aspirin, not rub it, stay off it, keep it nice and level....don't want to move a clot.

I hate to jump on the bandwagon, but... I know the feeling about not being able to/ wanting to go to a hospital. It is a sucky thing. But on the other hand, it does sound suspiciously like a DVT. I agree with beekissed- if you are at peace with your choices you can take the risk. Diagnosing over the internet is always a tricky thing, and it may just be a muscle injury that you don't remember. But, my advice would be to treat this seriously! And in the meantime, don't disturb it and break it loose.

:hugs for whichever choice you make.

All that stuff i wrote last night is gone, probably for the best. I have no money or insurance and have not signed up for Obamacare, so the hospital would turn me away, and i would have to walk home. I would get billed for the ambulance ride, followed by collection notices and possibly a lien on my property. Going to the doctor is just not an option for a poor person like me. My truck is broke down right now. I can't go anywhere. My leg will get better, or not. Good thing i'm not afraid of death with all the scary posts.

Aww, SS- I didn't mean to scare you. It's just that we worry! And, those are symptoms that *could* be serious. I hear you about the cost of medical care. One of the reasons I was against the "health care reform". I didn't think it went far enough into "socialized medicine". Someone like you with your symptoms should not have to consider the bankruptcy possible with any hospital visit. Health care should be something we as a society value for each other, not a sign that we have sunk deeper into the depravity of socialism.

I really like that last line, and of course I can sub any word for Health care and it would still work.
I might steal it tho :p

My leg feels a little better today. It seems like rest always helps it, which makes me think it's some type of injury. It was not bad yesterday until i started working. Last night i thought i was about to die. But i have almost died so many times that my life no longer flashes before my eyes. I don't seem to have the normal fear of death that most people have. If anything, i probably have a death wish. But i'd like it to be peaceful, in my sleep, natural causes, etc. My old drinking buddy, Ray, died instantly from a massive heart attack, while walking home from the bar. He had been coughing for several days, and everybody said go see the doctor. She found him face down in the street, as if he died in mid-step. I would think it beats the heck out of suffering in a hospital for a long time, getting all sorts of weird infections, painful MRSA.
In the former soviet union, they cure MRSA. They culture it on a petri dish, then get some local pond water or sewage and swab the culture. When they see a dead spot in the MRSA culture, they culture the beneficial bacteria. Then they spread the beneficial bacteria over the infected wound. It's very labor intensive and time consuming, and not profitable for the big drug companies. That's why people die from MRSA in this country. Drugs only treat symptoms, and with the exception of antibiotics and vaccines, they don't cure anything. Diet and exercise are the only effective cures that i know of, that and plenty of laughter, some good British comedies.
So now i'm going to get some hate-mail from a drug salesman. More like a toxic chemical pusher in my opinion, but if they feel comfortable doing it, it's all just snake oil to me. I'm not here to make pills illegal. I would love a handful of Valiums. I just think the risks are greater than the advantages. Sugar pills would do better in most situations.

I agree life is a crapshoot and make the call for medical help when needed etc........my Dads jogging partner he met while jogging was younger than him by 15 yrs, ate better than Dad, had no warning and died from massive heart problem. so??

but your friend had a warning and others advice, so MANY times what kills ya can be fixed easily. with a small procedure actually. So if a person is worried about their health, go get medical intervention. if you don't care, take the chances.

my uncle Rusty in Fl who was about late 70s was tired, coughy, gray, tired and more tired. FINALLY he went. Doc said you were close, very close to death. one night in with that ballon procedure he is running full speed many years later.
