we have flurries going on here.

hubby went to town to see if he could get a coupple tires for the truck. he went to work yesterday and when he got out of the truck, the tire was hissing. and the front tire on the other side has a big bubble in it. on the road we live on is a junkyard that we have to go past every day. (we go threw a lot of tires and TONS of plugs). but with it being christmas eve? not sure anything will be open.
we are supposed to drive to des moines this year for christmas on his side of the family. everyone lives down here (withen 20 miles of each other) except his sister that lives up there and she had to throw a fit about having to drive down here every year. so this year, insted of 1 person coming here, there are 3 going up there. and my 2 oldest girls cant go. which is ok my mil informed me that she is getting the little kids (sil kids) gifts but not her older grandkids (my kids). and she told me she got sil oldest a nintindo dsi. those are like $300.00+! but my 2 girls have to sit there and watch the other kids open gifts. she hasnt bought my kids a birthday gift in 4 years. and now this. :he it wouldnt hurt so bad but then she tells us what she got sil kids for their birthday...

sorry rant over... for now. lol

merry christmas everyone!

a family 40 miles north of us had a house fire and lost everything. they have a girl about the same size as my daughter, so my daughter saw the post on facebook and asked me to respond and ask if they needed nice clothes, and a winter coat. so i did and they said that they could realy use those things! so she went threw her clothes and gave them jeans, shirts, a sweater, dresses, shoes, and an almost brand new winter coat that she got as a gift and hated. and we took her up to give them the clothes. i am so proud of her, and when i told her that- she said "well i had WAY too many clothes, and it just seemed like fate that she wore the same size as me, plus i think god might have been talking to me becouse i swear i heard someone in my head tell me to look at the computer and my heart i felt i needed to help" she normaly doesnt look over my shoulder when i am on the computer.

and, i just get sooo mad at dh mom. she has a BIG gambling problem. but for the $300.00+ she could have gotten nice gifts for all the kids. and my kids know it is the thought that counts, my 1 daughter doesnt have any money and she got me a horse calender at dollar tree, and i was very happy for it! but i belive in karma, and it will come back.

it flurried all day yeaterday. went to christmas eve dinner at my grandmothers. she gave all her great grandkids a $5.00 bill, and told them they can get what they want for christmas. she has @30 great grandkids.

I can so relate to that. My SIL was the same way. She and my brother would buy super expensive gifts for each other, then have no money to give gifts to anyone else. Maybe I'm just strange, but I always felt I'd rather get something small if money was tight so we could give gifts to others.

they would have been happy with a $10.00 gift card. heck they were happy to get the 5.00 from my grandma. dh and i dont get a christmas gift or birthday gift for each other, our anniversary is feb 6th and that usualy coensides with when we get our tax refund. so we buy for each other then. (i always get him guns:plbb) last year i got a sportsman incubator:ya i used it a lot!!

I don't know how a grandparent can play favorites with any child it's just beyond me and it happens with my dad as well. I just distance my kids from the hurt as well as I can and let it alone. When my mom was alive she would get some hair clips to add to the stocking if a present was $2 more than another granddaughters, bless her heart she could never give more to one than another down to the last cent.

after dh dad passed 10 yrs ago his mom acts like she would rather forget he exsists, UNLESS she needs something then she is super nice till he does what she wants. she had to install a speical phone cause her husband cant talk anymore, so she had to have him rush up there, just to find out later that it was cause she wanted to go to the casino. and she needed the phone hooked up so he could call in an emergency. his real dad was the one that always stuck up for him. and for the most part his grandpa raised him. but her 2 girls are gold to her. he hasnt had a birthday or christmas gift from her in 10 years, but she tells him how she took his sisters shopping for their birthdays, and a couple years ago we cought her giving the girls cash christmas gifts but he didnt get one. we are going to go up this year but he has said that this is the last family thing he is going to, and that my mom and dad have been better parents to him than his oun. my dad is gone, but my mom got him a gift for both his birthday and christmas.

we have decided to distance ourselves from family and friends who are only there when they want something. that is our joint new year resolution.

well thank goodness that is over!

as the other kids were opening gifts, my 2 sil each gave my daughters a gift card. one told them it wasnt much, my youngest said "well i dont care if it is only $2.00, it is the fact that you thought about us at all." and after the gifts were opened sil asked her mom did you already give toms girls their gifts before you came up? she told her she didnt buy for the older kids, case they can understand. and sil told her mom, well that is pritty ****ty, so they had to sit there and watch the other kids open gifts and didnt get one!
so after we got home mil called and asked if she can take the kids shopping today or tomarow.

we will see...

going up to thank the neighbor who came and did night chores, and kept our wood stove filled for us yesterday.
