Rain??? Did someone mention giving away rain??? Where do I sign up at??? :gig

I wish I could take it as I can't remember the last decent rain that we've had, it was that long ago! :th

Nice haul on the scrap (pun intended) and awesome score on the netting, brooder, feeders and waterers. :bow

Yah...I wish I could give her more back. I give her rats for her snakes when I can. She said I did her a favor by getting the junk out of her way. I tryed to give her 1/2 of the money but she wouldn't take it. I am hatching a bunch of her goose eggs- she said I could have 1/2 of them but I don't want no mean a** geese! Did it once-never again! So she gets them all!

The reason no more geese...

My 3rd daughter loves anything feathered. So she got some ducks and they were WONDERFUL even hubby liked them! So we thought why don't we try some geese? So we found a nice young female. She layed her first egg a week after we brought her home. So I called my friend and told her I was soo excited! And she said well- it won't be good you don't have a male! I told her I didn't care, we had an egg! So she told me she had 7 geese 3 bonded pairs and a single male without a mate. He was the one she hatched and raised in her house the winter before. So we went and got him. Well he didn't want anything to do with r and he took to following me everywhere. He would lay down and I would scratch him under his wings and his neck. But he got to where if my kids came near me he would chase them away. Well that was kinda funny till the day my husband and I were doing something in the yard and that goose chased him and bit him! Then a week later, my husband was push mowing part of the yard and there were some sticks that I was picking up, and every time the mower got whithin 5 feet of me he would go after it and attack the mower! Well I finished and went and was watching to see if I had missed any. And he came over and was picking at my shoelaces. Then he grabbed my shoe and went to town on my foot!

we will just say that the feeling was NOT returned!! I gave him a boot. After he figured out I wasn't his mate- he did a 180 and if he wasn't locked up tight- he would try to kill me! Not even a stick would deter him. He never did like the little female. They went back to my friend!

 Can't say I blame you. I don't want no stinking geese either. When RU goes away, I have to feed the geese. And there is one that will always try to bite me but never has because I've always been able to chase it off. For some reason, I wasn't paying any attention to it one day. Not only did it bite me, but you would have thought it was part pit bull! It didn't let go. So I reached out and grabbed it's head and I held onto that sucker while I finished filling the feeder. Of course it didn't like it too much and tried to get away. But, I acted like I was part pit bull, and I didn't let go until I was done. Next time I needed to fill the feeder, it didn't get near me.

I know how you feel about the rain. From August to the end of December, we got about the same amount of rain as we normally get in a year. We had nothing but mud. Now we've gone from being too wet to being too dry. :hu

I wish I could send you some rain! The creek is out of the banks and the mississippi river is over also. If we get the next 7 days of rain like they say we should we are going to start some major flooding. I need to mow the yard but with all the rain we have been getting it is too wet and the grass keeps growing! Might have to bale it!

Bandit was off his feed a little tonight. I hope it is just becouse of the heat and humidity. Almost 80 today and with all this rain- yuck. Hot and sticky.

Sold 24 chicks today! 1.50 each. The light brahmas I got- some have a regular comb and some have what I think is a rose comb. So I need to find out which they are supposed to have. I was figuring on setting up a couple small tractors and keeping them and the blue orpingtons seperate.

We got some rain this past week, so that helps. Plus, we got a couple of inches a couple of weeks ago. But I think overall, we're still too dry.

Sounds like you did great! Will you be breeding the guineas or just process them? What type of baby ducks did you get?

When the guineas get old enuff to sex we will keep the females and enuff males to cover them and keep them in a coop. Then turn some of the extra males loose and eat some.

The ducks are a veriety. We got 1 silver appleyard, 2 blue swedish, 2 kackie camble, 2 fawn and white runner from the hoover hatchery people for 3.00 each. Then I got 3 runner ducklings from a lady that has a flock of mixed color runners, I think I got what will be a chocolate (solid) and 2 blue and white for 2.00 each. Then when I went back by at the end she asked if I wanted what she had left for 1.00 each there were 12. What she had left were a few runner, blue and black swedish, and a couple ruens. But I gave my friend a few.

I also got 4 dutch bunnies- 3 1/2 months old, for 10.00. We had a grey and white doe given to us. So we got a grey and white buck and a choc and white doe, light brown (tort) and white doe, and a wild color and white doe. All unrelated becouse they only breed color to color. All 4 for 10.00. Then later got a tort and white buck from another guy for 3.00. These are a project for my daughter.and if she can't sell the babies- they make a good small meat rabbit. The pet stores couldn't find anyone with purebred smaller rabbits this year- they were buying meat rabbits from a kid I know he had 100 bunnies and sold them ALL! Half of them went to the pet stores. He had pet stores coming from 50 miles away to get their easter bunnies! My daughter origanaly wanted dwarf but not much meat there if we have to butcher! My other daughter decided to get some mini rex but didn't see any there this month!

I got the guinea chicks cheap cause the guy got there late and it was 90 degrees and humid! And he didn't want to sit and sell them. But I was ok with that! I could have resold them at a profit but, they are going to be a nessesity here the ticks are out of controle! And if I want to sell them later, they are worth 25.00 or more EACH! (Full grown) so hubby said to keep them.

My husband got 6 pairs of socks for 1.00 :hide
