Well, we got snow last night and the schools were closed so I got a reprieve from babysitting today.

A friend came over and we looked through cookbooks. She is newly GF and her daughter is allergic to everything.

Anyone have a good cookbook for a 2 yr old that is allergic to corn, soy, wheat, eggs (chicken and duck, I've tried), chicken, green beans, apples and dairy?

So far they have put her on a raw vegetarian diet and we are trying to find some recipes for her. Her daddy hates vegetables and her brother can eat anything. Go figure. Grocery shopping with them is a blast. For dinner tonight she had oatmeal with real maple syrup and raisins and a banana. She cries for cheese and applesauce, poor thing.

Had our friend, the electrician come and figure up a list of supplies to run electricity to the "barn". We are thinking $300-400. Not too bad. The majority of the cost will be for the trencher to run the line from the house to the shed. It will have to be buried 18 inches for code.

No idea on a book, but here are a few things that may help.
Pear sauce for the applesauce craving.
And if she is on strict vege diet, she needs to eat as much raw coconut oil as she craves.
Can she have raw dairy? Hs it been tried? Goat milk even?
That fats are critical for good health.
If she is not getting good fats her dental health will suffer big time.

ETA No meat at all? Is it because of the grain allergies?

Couple questions. Is she proven to be allergic to things like apples and such? and has anyone taken her off the gluten for three or four weeks and then introduced these "allergens" back to her? Also, any particular reason they put her on a vegetarian diet? The gluten isn't transmitted via meat, unless it is seasoned or it has "artificial/natural flavors" or "8% substance injected" type things. I would assume things like beef, chicken, pork, etc would be fine as long as they are just meat with nothing added.

I ask these questions because we are gluten free and we don't have problems with the meat as long as we watch the labels (heaven forbid ground meat could simply be ground meat  )

It's hard to find cookbooks that cover all those allergies. Believe me, I've looked. DS's allergies are wheat, rye, barley, soy, corn, rice, sesame, dairy (he seems to do okay with goat's milk though), peanuts, walnuts and pecans.
I like Living Without Magazine. It covers a broad range of stuff. The current issue has a great article about corn allergies with all the possible ingredients it can hide in. It's truly frightening though.
I started with Food Allergies for Dummies. My biggest problem is DS's rice allergy. So many wheat and gluten free recipes use rice flour. Looks like she's safe there and that will be a huge help to her.
I have a stack of books in the other room. I'll look through them and post some titles. One of the best was one I borrowed from a friend. It's out of print but I'll find the title and maybe she can find a copy somewhere.

This is one of my favorites. I have to substitute for anything with rice or rice flour but I've found some usable recipes in it.

They DO make cheese from other things like rice milk. Rice Cheese

I agree with colowyo0809 in that they should wait about six months and then try introducing the "allergen" foods again, least reactive first and one at a time. My D2 used to be "allergic" to LOTS of things. Now that she is gluten free they are no longer a problem. I too have lots less problems with my asthma now that I am GF.

There is lots of hope!

Well, now the allergist is telling her to go through everything topical too. She has been broken out in a rash since Dec 28 when I kept her for her mom, I fed her pancakes made with duck eggs...with her mom's permission. They were GF, made with rice flour and buckwheat flour. She was fine all day but then broke out in a rash the next day. She is not sure if it is the duck eggs or something else.

She gets stomach cramps and breaks out in rashes. I know for a fact that she has had a fruit bar that had apples in it, I read the label after she got done eating it. Corn is a big thing with her too. She has been instructed to look for certain things in shampoos and lotions and laundry detergents. She has had to discard anything with corn or soy derivatives.

I don't know. Her mother is beside herself. She bought her some gluten free stuff to snack on cause she wants to graze all day long. She will eat some meat, fish and beef, but she can't have chicken at all. They want her on a raw food diet to cleanse her out and then start adding things back in one at a time. She just can't get rid of the rash. Its frustrating.

Well....my husband surprised me Friday night and took me to a neighboring county and bought me a bassett hound puppy. She is ridiculously cute and her ears are 8 inches long! She is purebred but only her father has papers. We don't care cause we won't breed her. She is 10 weeks old, I think. :p She is due for her second round of shots at the end of the week.

I'm leaving today to go see granny for a couple of days for her birthday and also my other grandmother's birthday. They are Feb 1st and 2nd. I am giving both of them a dozen eggs and a copy of Nourishing Traditions. I'm trying. :D I've got to load up a puppy pic but I"ll get that done in a minute.

:love :weee I just love a squishy, floppy bassett hound pup. That's what my first dog was when I was a kid.
