Grandma apparently decided that my puny 12 month old sister, Avis, should be weaned, and snatched the nursing baby from my mother's breast. The tiny infant wailed at the top of her lungs. "Let her cry!" Grandma declared. "You can't begin character building too soon!"

I read this about 2 years ago and fell in love. Now after finally unpacking all of my books after the move, I found it again. I am in the process of rereading it with my new SS perspective. It is almost like reading a brand new book.

Mine orders chicks for me and lets me know of any discards she thinks I might be interested in. Like the one that was for sale on Amazon used for about $300!
