Be honest... did you have to look up the correct spelling? I'll admit it, I did. I remember it being called a perk"u"lator.
I also recall watching the glass top in amazement. My grandmother seen me and fixed me my very first of coffee when it was done.

No. Actually know the word. Ive used it since little. It was never called a coffee pot.
I've also used parthenogenesis in conversations recently. That word gets blank looks except for some poultry people who know about the few birds who've done it like the turkeys. Or those who like lizards and such
