Back in 96/97, drove from here to south Texas (near Beeville). Driving the Texas highway system was something else. I basically joined up with a convoy of trucks at night and boogied along with them at 90mph. Wild time

i remember my first trip driving across to NM from St. Louis and seeing in the distance what i thought to be a lone tree. it turned out to be a sign on an overpass.

We have a tendency to “drive it like you stole it”.

Around here it's getting speedy. The signs seem to be a suggestion! ☺️ I've been driving 5 over & have cars pass me like I was sitting still.

I don't mosey along but try not to acquire a ticket

same here, 5-7 over is my own "swerving suggestion" and that is on clear roads with good weather and in the daytime. i try to avoid night driving due to how many deer are running around (you see them often in the day too but at least you can see them before they jump right out in front of you).

so far i've only had 2 speeding tickets in my life and hope to avoid any others, but once in a while i do happen to get a bit foot heavy and find myself more over than i want to be and back off. so far i've just been lucky i guess to not have anyone that needs their quota filled be around at those times. also, like you say, there's a lot of easier targets out there than me. often i do get passed by others going a lot faster - i'm ok with them getting the tickets and not me.

my one other ticket was when i was at fault for backing up into a lady who was tailgating me when i was driving the family business work truck which had a big hydraulic gate on the back of it, to say the least her tiny car was mashed up pretty good and the truck didn't have a mark on it. yes, i was at fault and i did pay my ticket - but as a note to others, if you can't see the mirrors of the truck in front of you you are perhaps a bit too close... i can't see you if you can't see me - even if i'm supposed to get out and look before backing up... those were days long ago now and i'm glad to be also long gone from that work - gardening is much more my speed and when i back up there are likely to be no people behind me.
