It's getting to be about that time of year again, starting the recitation practice with the youth (Gettysburg Address and Flanders Field). They already know the Pledge of Allegiance. Working on memorization and delivery. They have to present at every meeting. The kids "try out" for final selection by the Unit staff at the end of April
One young man who has a learning issue, memorized Flanders Field in one week. He was embarrassed about how well he did, blew the others away. Another young man wants to do the Pledge, but is terrified of being up front. His two buddies got up and flanked him, doing it themselves and saying he could practice as they did it (they did the event previously, and want him to have a chance to shine).
