Morel, I laughed at both your adventure camping on the boat and your dog, son, and groundhog. I had a very vivid picture of several scenes from Old Yeller on the boy and dog.

I can not even imagine spending a night on a boat around here. Mosquitos would carry you off to their nest and feast on you at their leisure.

I wish you lived close to me. I would love to have a rabbit processing buddy.

Oh we have mosquitos! I forgot to mention I also brought a mosquito net thingy that you hang over the bed and safety pinned it to the canvas boat top....aaagh! That was just another thing that got in the way all night...DH finally rolled over in such a huff that it fell off the ceiling and we got all tangled up in it too! Needless to say I was NOT in a good mood when we finally pulled back up to our dock...why the heck would anyone go camping when they live in a full time cottage anyway...cause I'm blonde and HE doesn't know how to say no???

I know, I've thought of that, but I checked her over and it doesn't seem like she has any skin broken anywhere. I gave my sone crap for that same reason, the last thing we need is rabies around here...and boxers are one tough breed I wouldn't want to be around if she goes nuts on us!

Well everyone, I have finally thrown in the towel on SS and decided to move to town. Long story short, I am tired, and desperately need a change. I will be doing what I can to eat healthy and grow a little garden in town but I am not heating by wood anymore, no more huge property and livestock to care for...I am done. After 12 years of realizing that we are really not getting anywhere anyway that we can't get in town...we've decided to sell this beautiful place and move.
My oldest sone has been pulling more fast ones and we are just stressed to the max...when you live on the lake you get wayyy too much company...ahhh, I just want out...backyard pool, freedom, and maybe a job...who knows.
The meat rabbit idea was a mistake for me...I bought 4 does and bred them all...had piles of baby bunnies within weeks...and discovered that I CANNOT kill those adorable little babies...no way! Haha...getting soft. So I gave away everything the other day
Anyone want to buy a SS log home in the country on a lake in Canada?? Just listed yesterday!

Morel - I would love to buy that place. Moving from Mississippi to Canada might be a stretch for us though. I am not sure that me or DH could handle that long commute to our jobs. And I am just way to old to be job hunting. Your place is beautiful and I would think sell quickly.

Good luck, with the sale and the move.

Edited to add: I know that tired feeling. I bounce back and forth between "Oh good greif this is so much work lets get rid of all the animals". To "Oh I wish I could add this or that". Then a flip flop back to no, that would just make more work. This lifestyle does sometimes take a toll.

Ahhh, I know the bouncing back and forth feeling...been doing that for the last couple of months and then finally made a decision. DH is so sore and tired lately from working very long hours and travelling all over the continent and them having to come home and do the things that I can't, or simply don't have time for.
Thankfully I am moving to a very small town, and will still have a huge yard and a private backyard. But we will most likely be having a new home built so that there will be NO work except what I choose to take on in landscaping details!

Your home is beautiful. I'm sure you will have no problems finding a buyer.

Sorry your son is still giving you problems.

I couldn't kill those cute little bunnies, either. They're so cute and cuddly and have that off the chart cuteness factor going on.

I hope this means you aren't leaving the forum. We would still like to hear about your city living. Best of luck on everything working out for you. :hugs

Morel...... :hugs I hope you find the happiness and fulfillment you seek in your new place. Change is not the enemy, is it? Change can breathe fresh life into your purpose and give you a new angle on this SS thing. New challenges and new scenery can help you get your spirit back, I think.

I will be praying for you, Morel....for your wounded and tired spirit and for fresh beginnings. :hugs
