Yes, washing soda is the Arm and Hammer washing soda in the laundry aisle.
I hope to get the big bag of baking soda at the feed store, but the only feed store is way the heck the other direction of our closest town. When I asked at our local co-op, they had no idea what I was talking about. Sigh. So I got a 12 lb bag in the pool section at wal-mart.
I'm a bit nervous to use the feed store baking soda in my mouth or for cooking. They could end up storing it next to buggy grain or something. But for everything else, it'd sure be the way to go. I started adding around 1/2 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup of peroxide to some of the laundry, (homemade Oxyclean) and it really does help give the homemade detergent a boost.
Some people use just baking soda in the dishwasher. I used washing soda and borax and my glassware is crap now, so don't do that.
