They installed a chair rail lift for my grandmother and it made the house much more usable for her. Especially since it was an older house and the bathroom was upstairs. They are definitely an option... but a main floor bedroom and bathroom is a real plus.
Still like the idea of making a list of what you both WANT out of new house... even a list of what you DON'T WANT, will find common ground...

definitely! i would much prefer a single level place and a walk in basement from outside on the downslope.

talk talk talk as much as you can about it and see what shakes out. then you have to deal with reality of what is available and what you can afford or how much you think you can wait while you keep looking.

On Sunday afternoon we went to view that house, we liked it and it was the perfect set up but there's a ton of work that it needs (new windows, porches [ front and back] need to be redone, some of the flooring, and possibly a new roof. Right now as it stands it won't pass inspection for a FHA loan so we're going to keep looking

its a tough market and it can be frustrating. i thought we were never gonna close on the right place and then we found this place a month later.

That's true as long as we can find someone who is willing to let us view (tour) houses seeing how my boyfriend had someone tell him "I'm not going to keep showing you houses until you get a letter saying how much of a loan you can get".

these aren't mandatory around here to view homes but I 'feel' that agents like to see or at least know you have a letter so that they know you are financially able to purchase. Their time is their job/money so it makes sense, though not the approach I would personally use.

Their time, money for fuel, wear and tear on their car and while they are showing someone around that doesn’t even know if they qualify for a home loan, they might be missing a sale. They work on commission. No sale, no money.

Since y’all are first time buyers, you need to talk to a loan officer and find out just how much house you can buy. How much down payment? Insurance and taxes are escrowed and add to the monthly note. Get the facts and know where you stand. Banks aren’t the only lenders, there are many out there.

Kevin talked to his boss about us moving and buying the house we used to live in and moved out of in August 2020. His boss told him there's some major flooring issues due to a water leak over the winter so please all keep us in your prayers as we wait for the final decision. Also here's an update about my boyfriends sister she has to have 4 rounds of chemo treatment then has to have surgery to have her bladder removed because the cancer is in the muscles. I know you all don't know him or her but on my behalf keep them in your prayers also.
