Welcome neighbor! :frow

I think you are the closest member to me as of yet! I was in Blue Springs only today visiting my dad at the nursing home.

By the way there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with the city ordinances in Blue Springs. Something that needs a hard core challenge. Vietnamese Pot Belly Pigs are not considered livestock and are ALLOWED in the city limits, yet chickens are illegal? Hmmm.

Well I haven't tried to rock the boat yet on the whole chicken thing, but when I did call they said that they are considered farm animals and are not allowed in city limits. But I was not aware of the pot belly pigs.......I should see if I can have guinea hens instead.

Personally, I wouldn't want guineas, especially in a city. They're quite noisy.

So my garden is doing ok. I started every thing in the areogarden....3 starters of everything. 4 different types of tomatoes (Vine rose, Brandywine, amish paste, and yellow pear), 3 types of peppers (jalapeno, cayenne, and hugarian yellow) , and one type of cucumber (A C pickling). I also tried to start basil and dill in the areogarden (the basil did ok and dill didn't do anything). The only thing that made it is 3 pepper plants, 7 tomatoes, and 5 cucumber plants. One of my dogs have either stolen, or dug up 3 of the cucumber plants. One tomato plant died and the wind broke an other, however 4 more were still growing in the areogarden so I have 9 tomato plants. Other then the Cucumber Battle I think everything is turning out great for my first time.

Since my son was born about 2 1/2 weeks ago I just need to stay motivated to keep up with it :)

I don't have livestock either, although I'm hoping to have meat rabbits in the near future. Maybe that would be an option for you?
