hey patandchickens
i was rebuilding a resort in perry sound twp summers ago and was being eaten alive everyday and night it was very over grown after being basically abandoned ten years earlier also lots of "water features" etc that caused the skeeter population to get out of control. when one day the new owner whom i was working for should up with the mosquito magnet propane powered machine that you set up down wind and it releases a bait scent and it brings the skeeters to it and the fly into a bag they cant get out of.
now growing up in a skeeter infested swamp myself and finding the only cure for them to mental fortitude i had my doubts about the mosquito magnet but low and behold within days i was emptying out large sacs of dead skeeters and then after about a month no more and there were almost none around the resort for the rest of the summer, though we did keep the "magnet" on. i am pretty sure you can get an electric version of this too.
i gotta say i dont endorse products easily and this is one that works!!! and seems fairly non toxic to the enviroment it is being used in. dont quite remember what the bait or poisons they use but had young (2 month) dd up there alot and i was real uptight about that kind of thing at that point so i remember reading EVERYTHING i could find on it at that point.
maybe this helps. they are a bit of cash but i think they are worth every penny!!
