I have been GF since Monday, and I'm feeling TERRIBLE today!! I feel really dizzy & nauseous. A quick google, and I've found that it seems like there is such a thing as "gluten withdrawal." Have any of you guys been through that? If so, do you think there's a way to just wean off gluten? It's making it really hard for me to work (as evidenced by the fact that I'm posting to SS!).

I don't remember (which may be a sign in and of itself...) but I know I felt pretty good if I kept my protein intake up there.
Good luck!

YES! It took about 2 weeks for our child to stop complaining about tummy and head issues. Grumpy and not thrilled would be the best description I used. Just like weaning off caffeine or sugar. If not contact your Physician for further testing or suggestions.

*eta I should have mentioned he felt immediately better off the wheat, but had withdrawals from other food allergens, eggs, dairy etc.

Good to know the source!! I hate to say it, but I may need to wait another week or 2 to completely quit. I've got too much to do right now to be sick (I've kinda gotten used to how I feel with my current diet). I've got several weeks of vacation coming up, and as much as I hate to be sick then, I might have to do it then. :/

Sometimes you can ease the problem by upping the carbs for a bit. Try a baked potato or baked sweet potato.

I have been eating a lot of potatoes (and potato chips, unfortunately!). I've got an appt with a holistic doc in a couple of weeks, so I think I'm just going to cut back on the gluten w/o going cold turkey until I see him.

Try eating more protein more often especially at breakfast like chicken, beef, eggs and nuts.

Gluten and sugar ARE addictive. There ARE withdrawal symptoms when you go off of them. One animal study showed sugar to be as addictive as heroin.

I've been wondering if that's why I was having headaches the last few days.
