At the end of the month, I'll be taking a 10 hour bus trip with DH and his high school band to NYC. I don't want to rely on fast food and vending machines while I'm there (for breakfast and in between meals). Though our hotel will have fridges/microwaves, we'll be gone from the hotel from 7am-9pm each day. It's a challenge to eat while I'm traveling since I'm allergic to dairy so I tend to take a lot of food with me. It's hard to find a restaurant that knows if they have dairy-free options. I am making a list of foods (mainly breakfasts and snacks) for me to pack for the road trip and then to pack in my backpack to have with me during the day while walking around NYC.
Here are the qualifications....
-no dairy (I'm allergic)
-minimal sweets since I'm trying to keep my sugar-craving self in-check
-easy to pack and easy to eat while on a bus or while walking around town
Here are my ideas so far and I'd love if you could add to them
- homemade granola bars
- dried fruit and nuts in baggies
- apples?
- carrot sticks
- peanut butter sandwiches (maybe for just the first day or two since they'll get stale)
Thanks in advance!
