Hi and welcome from Va... @Thewhippoorwhil, Please go to your name top right, down to account details, down to location and put in a general location... we don't need details to your house :hide:th:gigbut a state or area helps us to get a feel for what things you face... how the crops are there, things like that... It will show up in your avatar so those of us :old:old "prime age members" can refer to it, and don't have to try to rely on our "superior" memories..... and can make comments related to your area.

Zone 6B or 7 can't decide
I like to hear whippoorwhils in the pastures and hay field over summer. I actually followed the call of one in the evening many years ago and got a glimpse of it in the tall grass before it ran off.

A couple of us have cattle. I think Farmerjan still has dairy and I have a beef. I really enjoy having cows around. Except for a big brangus steer i had last year. Who jumped the fence twice, busted a gate and bent a bull gate. They get so big, just before processing and they figure out, they can go where they want to when they want to. He was the only one who has gave me any problems. My belted galloways are tame compared to brangus and black angus steers i've had.

Welcome from zone 7, Southern IL.

Thats really cool! I love whippoorwills, though i don't see them here very often. I am currently writing a book about one though.
