What are your views on it. I know what it is, I just want to see if it is worth buying. (Is it really THAT healthy?)

Thanks!!

I've been eating it for about 20 years. The "Kal Nutritional yeast flakes" are my favorite. Yummy. Lots of them are similar about the nutrition, but the ones that are called brewers yeast do not taste the same. I get it in bulk at a health food store. The prices vary by alot, so shop around.

Thanks DL!

Why have you been eating it?

So, "brewers yeast" and nutritional yeast are NOT the same? :hu

What do you put yours in or on?

I knew is was "good for you" but hadn't tried it before. Then somebody put some on popcorn and it tasted good. So I started buying it and putting it on all kinds of stuff.

They are made from the same stuff, but brewers yeast has been used in beer making. That makes it bitter. Then they have to try to take out the bitterness. Which doesn't always work very well.

The nutritional yeast never got exposed to that stuff and tastes sorta buttery or like mild cheese.

I've used it for homemade vegan mac n cheese ( I'm not vegan tho) put it on top of salads, added to sauces to thicken, ect. It's an "add to anything you'd add cheese to" kinda thing. Somewhere out there is a recipe for a salad dressing, can't remember it off the top of my head now, prolly somewhere on the inter-webs...

My dad used to put it on popcorn too. I'm not sure if he still does. He loved the flavor. But me being the snotty college kid I was, I turned up my nose and never tried it.

It is addictive on popcorn! Along with some garlic salt and some Nature's Seasons, a little pepper.....can't get enough of it!

I used to take it to work where the folks would taste it and say they didn't think they liked the taste of it....then they would sit there and eat the whole bag! They would claim that it was "addictive".....

So...I would like to make some, bag it up and sell it at my roadside stand one day. Addictive leads to money...just ask the cig and coke companies! :D

It's a great source of protein and some doctors advise it for folks who are failing to thrive and need to gain weight.

Its also good for shiney and healthy coats in dogs....or hair if you are human.
