I think people think it is addictive cause though they may not like the taste their body needs it. Once they have it, they crave it. I do, when I need more B's out comes the popcorn and N Yeast.

I make a "cheese" sauce from it for potatoes or broccoli. But we only like it when its made fresh. I tasts yuk the next day. Wonder if it would be good canned though.

It was made popular in the seventies by vegetarions that used it for a natural source of protein and the high vitamin B content.

I give it to my Ducks, no more leg problems, ever. I also give it to my chickens from time to time. I figure it helps the Roos.

I had a cat once that had health problems, he would scarf it by the tablespoon and asked for it specifically (by crying at the counter where I started storing it). He started to get up on the counter and had never done that before. So I started moving things around to see what he was after. Sure enough I had left the N Yeast on the counter. He wanted it. I gave him some, he had more energy and perked up. He still had his medical problem, but he dealt with it better after that.
