I never put vegetables in my chicken broth. Duh. I am making CHICKEN broth! :lol: There is no reason that you could NOT make broth with your pork bones. You could add veggies to it if you wanted to make stock. There is supposed to be a difference between broth and stock, I guess that's it.

Is that the difference? Ha I don't know! I couldn't cook a grilled cheese sandwich when I married my husband so I have come a long way!

Actually... I think I do have that book... I'm not set up for canning so it is stashed away somewhere. Didn't think to look in there!

I believe the difference between broth and stock is that stock is simply boiled and strained meat and bones, while broth is an actual clear SOUP, with vegetables and seasonings.

The chicken stock recipe in the Ball book calls for celery and onions.

See, I found the book! Now I have tons more to learn!

OK first attempt at making stock is on the stove! I am following the Ball recipe with celery and onions since I had them anyway for soup. Then chicken noodle soup later... And homemade bread. Mmmm

It's cold and rainy here today. Ripped up our bean plants and summer squashes. Getting plastic to cover the tomatoes and winter squash that just aren't quite ready. Frost in the forecast tomorrow!
