Got some quotes on farm calls, etc today. Not terrible prices, which surprised me. Think I know who I'm going to use, since the vet that I usually use is so far away and doesn't travel up here.

Supposed to get 6-12" of snow tomorrow. Ugh! DH is supposed to be home to bring us grocery shopping soon but... You never know. Don't want to go out in the storm!

Yay on finding a vet! Now let's hope you don't need any emergency calls! :fl

Stinker on the snow. I know you have got to be tired of it - even if it is pretty. Yep - get them groceries today....driving to the store in a storm does NOT sound like fun.

Well... He's still not home so don't think we're going anywhere. Might have to sneak out in the morning before it gets too bad. The road we have to take is awful too, especially in snow!

I'm very much hoping for no emergency calls too! Yikes!

Can you call him and give him the list? Or is he like my DH and can't be trusted to shop, lol! He would come home with half the store if I let him buy groceries alone.

He can not be trusted! Plus he's in the opposite direction of the store. We live in the middle of nowhere and he's working in the middle of a different nowhere. I would have gone without him if I had known he was going to be so late! But bringing both girls anywhere by myself in winter is just not fun.

LOL!
It does not sound like fun to have both kiddos by yourself in the stooped winter! Another set of hands is always helpful in those situations.

Well we got a foot of snow, now it's supposed to rain. Great.

Getting really sick of winter here. I hate February! Yesterday we reorganized and cleaned and all that fun stuff. Need to finish that project today.

So @frustratedearthmother , I have to ask you- one of my new does is not looking pregnant. If she isn't, this is the second year she was hand bred and didn't take. What are the chances she'll take next year? She'll be 3 this spring. I don't want to float her a year if she's not going to give me babies. And I got her and her sister for a price I would have paid for just her sister, so no big loss if she's a cull.

I think I'd take snow over rain any day....except that it eventually melts I guess...

Has your doe kidded before? If so, I might wonder if she had some kind of uterine infection and/or scar tissue issue. But, if she's never kidded and never settled it's a bit trickier. She might be one of those does that needs to live with a buck for a few days OR she might have some other issue. :hu

I've got one out there that hasn't produced a live kid for a couple years now and she's on the "to go" list.
